It appears to me that NBC will time out on the telecast tonight after the 100 *** final and I don't they will show either on the internet or TV the Men's 200 Fly semis or the Women's 200 IM semis. The only semi we get tonight is the Women's 200 Free and the four finals. Does anyone know if they can access events not shown from from 8:00 to 9:00 everyday. On Monday there was no semi in the Men's 100 ***, and last night no semis for the 100 Back. Are these events anywhere that you can view?Try this link, should work for viewing online both the hour-long live NBC TV broadcast as well as the semis which are happening after 8 pm CST: www.nbcolympics.com/.../index.html (click on the appropriate finals date when it has the Live logo active in the section to the right, "Olympic Trials: Online". Note that according to the timeline published here, www.usaswimming.org/.../Tentative Finals Timelines.pdf, the Womens' 200 Free semis starts @ 6:49 pm CST which I suspect will mean it won't actually be shown on the live TV broadcast that starts at 7 pm CST. I'm keeping my fingers crossed however that we'll get to see it on the online broadcast...
  • Commentary its abuzz that many swimmers are only focused on getting to the next final, not necessarily going all out on every swim. This might account for some of the slower times. Less than 10% make it past prelims so I don't think that theory holds much water (ha).
  • Can you post a link? Apparently my blonde-ness is showing today, because I can't seem to find archived races on their site. http://www.nbcolympics.com/ There's a video section. You might need to do a little searching to find the events you want and I don't know if everything is there.
  • Phelps/Lochte!!!!!!! Boy is London going to be fun!
  • Phelps/Lochte!!!!!!! Boy is London going to be fun! I thought Lochte glided slightly on the last stroke while Phelps punched the finish. Soni's start was horrible. Almost half body length behind after the breakout?! Is she off the medley relay or is coach's discretion?
  • I thought Lochte glided slightly on the last stroke while Phelps punched the finish. Soni's start was horrible. Almost half body length behind after the breakout?! Is she off the medley relay or is coach's discretion? Normally, one swims the prelims and the other the final. Both get medals.

I'm pretty sure the 100 BR is before the MR.The faster swimmer at the Olympics will swim in the finals and the other swimmer will be in the prelims.
  • I'm pretty sure the 100 BR is before the MR.The faster swimmer at the Olympics will swim in the finals and the other swimmer will be in the prelims. That's what I was wondering. I didn't know the order of events. Hope Soni gets a better start next time (and finish too). Hardy must be heartbroken.

  • Today is a light prelims, only 3 events and there will be a time trial ... Ande, For we competitively inexperienced folk, can you remind us what the purpose of a time trial is? I'm especially confused because these time trials all seem to be in events which are contested at the Trials. Thx, Skip
