Canadian Masters Swimming Championships 2011

The next Canadian Masters Swimming Championships will be held 5/20/2011 to 5/23/2011 in Montreal. I believe it will be SCM. Unfortunately the Masters Swimming Canada site has very little information on the meet as yet. I would like to correspond with someone who knows more details, including venue, which events are on which dates, event order, etc. Any ideas? Thanks!

  • Well, unless they have a two pool option, I fear it would be quite crowded ... Here's a guess: Of course not knowing the content of the bid, I looked for two co-located 50 meter pools in Montreal. I found a pair at Parc Jean Drapeau (link is to a satellite image of the pools). There's a Metro station essentially on-site, just a few meters away from the pools. "The 2005 World Aquatics Championships or the XI FINA World Championships were held in Montreal, Quebec, Canada from July 16 to July 31, 2005. They took place in Parc Jean-Drapeau on Saint Helen's Island." From www.parcjeandrapeau.com/cultural_historical_heritage.html XIth FINA World Aquatic Championships 2005 From July 16 – 31, 2005 the FINA World Aquatic Championships came to North America for the first time. The best aquatic athletes representing 160 countries came to Montreal to compete in the various disciplines: water polo, synchronized swimming, swimming, and diving. The Complexe aquatique de l'île Sainte-Hélène underwent major renovations for the Championships, including the restoration of the Pavilion des Baigneurs and the construction of three new swimming pools built using an innovative concept of hybrid pools. Clearly they can handle it.
