I have not seen a single video of any of the swimming. Oh how I wanted to be there.

Is there any live video streams?
  • I talked to MJ on the phone. She is in amazingly good spirits. The surgery is not until tomorrow and her husband has flown down to be with her.She is very pleased that everyone is thinking of her. On a different note in dealing with injury, while I am really, really happy with my time and winning the 100 BR ,in my opinion the most impressive swim in my heat was Hubie Kerns. He finished second after his horrendous injury less than 2 years ago(as written about in SWIMMER.)

The meet is definitely moving at a good clip. Do they do flyover starts in masters? I'd imagine not but had to ask anyway :)
  • Ande was at the pool on time. But he told me he spent too much time changing and picking up his registration bag. He didn't get back to the blocks on time for his heat. I haven't checked results yet. Did Kip/Spock beat Ande in the 50 fly? Ande did not miss on purpose, he had a decent shot at winning the event (especially with Dennis Baker being sick). The meet is moving pretty fast -- faster than the timeline, I think -- and with the odd/even courses it is easy to misjudge the time. The 200 back snuck up on me too, I had much less time than I like for a pre-race warmup. In my case, the need for shade drove me to a spot where I could not easily see the scoreboards (which show the current event/heat) and the announcer did not always specify which heat was swimming. Just saying...I get really hyper about trying to plan out the timeline and I definitely get caught off guard sometimes, it can happen to anyone. Bobby Patten, showing heretofore unsuspected sprinting chops, took the 50 fly. I suspect he may be a force to reckon with in the 200 fly tomorrow (I think it used to be his best event, long ago). As if that event isn't stacked enough with Sims, Baker (even sick) and Shaffer.
  • That Guy do you have any Idea what suit he wore? Did he wear a Brief or a Jammer? Was the jammer a tech jammer or just a jammer? No idea, I'm about 1000 miles away from the pool :)

Very fast swims in the 100 *** by Ed Moses and Jeff Commings. Edit: That Guy has it covered. I'll also mention Dave Rollins, at 54.51.
  • Holy cow, great swim! He was a good guy to have a record. Congrats to Chris and Eliane. The meet sounds really fast. Allen, thanks for the MJ update. I hope all goes well with her tomorrow.

Why does it matter to any of us what Ande's reason(s) for missing the event are? If he purposefully missed it to save up for an event or if it was by accident, who are we to judge him? This is his meet, he can swim or not swim the events he wants too. Exactamundo!
  • Did he wear a Brief or a Jammer? Was the jammer a tech jammer or just a jammer?Rowdy wore a jammer and I believe a B70 jammer. I'm bummed I missed seeing it as I was waiting to swim my race, but I'm sure he'll put on an even better show in the 100.
