For me, I just had mine this weekend. :) I was entered in five events: 1.) 50 free, 2.) 200 free, 3.) 100 back, 4.) 100 ***, and 5.) 100 free. old and new PB times: 50fr: the only event I didn't drop time, PB is still 27.53 (Oct '10). 200fr: 2:28.11 (Jul '10)/2:18.99 100 back: 1:23.19 (Oct '10)/1:18.03 100 ***: 1:28.11 (Oct '10)/1:26.73 100 free: 1:02.64 (Oct '10)/1:00.03 FOUR MILLISECONDS AWAY FROM GOING UNDER!!! AAARGH! Still, it was a mega monster 2.5 second drop from my old PB. This month marks two years since I started swimming, though I didn't start competitively until January '09. The piano dropped in none of these events. At the end of each, I was ready to get right back in and race again. The 50 free was just a stupid mistake- I didn't warm up properly, else I would've dropped time there, too. There were lessons to be learned and new mistakes to be avoided after my previous meet last month. I learned them and avoided them. My best meet yet. What about your best meets?
  • Especially loved seeing you crack that barrier in the 2Free! That was a story of TALL PAUL's 2Back joke strategy that worked out well for me a few years ago... Thanks for the reminder! What a GREAT season ending meet! See you at the DAVIS Masters (last chance 1-day) meet on Aug.13th?

I am having my best meet yet right now. When I was done with my swims for the day, I told my coach, "And the best part is, I have four more races tomorrow!" Today, I swam the 100 fly, 100 back, 100 free, and 500 free. PBs going into the meet: 100 fly: 1:10.67 100 back: 1:14.05 100 free: 58.64 500 free: 6:08.85 new PBs: 100 fly: 1:04.20 100 back: 1:08.60 100 free: 53.13 500 free: 5:32.77 :bolt: The 5.5 second drops in the 100 back and free are only my 2nd-biggest ones ever. The 500 free time is my first time under 6 minutes, and it finally tops my time from April of last year. FINALLY! 36-second drop, too. :) tomorrow's events: 200 back, 200 free, 100 ***, 50 free.
  • Awesome! Congratulations!!! :applaud:
  • Great work, Couro, and Oz! Hey, Oz, how about a showdown 200 fly at Greensboro next year? I did 3:19 in my local Senior Games in May. Of course, we would both probably be eating the wake of a certain Mr. Poiletman, the World Record holder! My most memorable, if not best, was way back in '76 when they only gave medals for six places at Nats. At Long Course in St. Louis, a got a complete set in 7 events (1st in 100 BR).

Wow, way to go, Orca! Living up to your username. :) I have not yet done the 200 fly. You are a braver soul than I. I'm happy to report that the second half of my meet was just as good as yesterday. This morning, though, I was nervous. I was like, "What if I left nothing in the tank?!" I allowed myself 5 long-second freakouts, where I slowly count down to 5 and imagine characters from movies going hysterical and panicking. Then at 0, I went to my happy place- which is a cockpit view of a runway, little red lights lining the way on both sides to the vanishing point on the horizon. And then... take-off. :) So, PBs going in: 200 free: 2:12.44 200 back: 3:08.41 (50m) 100 ***: 1:24.30 50 free: 26.35 new PBs: 200 free: 1:59.75 200 back: 2:31.72 100 ***: 1:20.20 50 free: 24.50 8 races, 8 new PBs. I've been trying to go 8 for 8 for a while. Back in February, I got 5 out of 8, but ran out of gas halfway through the second day. Even today, after those two 200s, I could feel myself starting to get tired. Otherwise, I might've gotten that 100 *** under 1:20. Oh, well. Gotta respect that stroke! In the 200 back, I employed a strategy I got from Ahelee- don't be afraid to go all out on the first 100, like doing a 100 back, then go hard on the second 100. I killed it. Meanwhile, I killed myself. My 100 *** might've suffered for that. Wouldn't have changed that race, though! Pretty happy with my times, but eager to get even faster. Looking to the future now. A new season is imminent.
