Sorry, TG, that meet is not happening this year, and I don't know of any replacement.
I haven't done an entry form for any meets in Dec and they would have it out by now. So sorry, no replacement.
I will be at the VA Beach meet this weekend. Not sure about the size of it compared to other years but there are 17 in the 800 free and 14 in the 1500 free. I see at least one from PV. I'm looking forward to the meet since I've had to miss it due to family or surgeries for the last 2 years.
Is attendance down?I expect someone out there can answer that.I wonder if there wasn't some let down from Atlanta.I expect both 2011 Nats to be very well attended.
None for me! Not traveling. But all meets sound like fun!
For a tune-up, consider the DAMM SCM meet on 11/20/10. All events combined, except for the fastest heats of the 4 x 50's, which will have 1 heat men, 1 heat women of the fastest seed times.
LCM was not that popular last summer, and the Top Ten reflect that fact.
Sprint Classic attendance was down in October.
A meet in Charlotte was almost cancelled due to low attendance.
I'll be curious to see if the VA Beach meet this weekend has lower attendance than last year too. Nor sure I know anyone from PV going, and there usually are some.
No CZ SCM meet this December.
No PV SCM meet on the schedule for this December.
Only 80+ swimmers at the Indy SCM meet last weekend.
It didn't appear to me (though not knowledgable in matters of the west coast, to be sure) that there were as many swimmers at the SPMA SCM Champs.
I'd like to see further stats as well. But I tend to agree with Patrick. It seems too much of a coincidence to say that everyone got injured, had pressing family obligations, fell ill, decided to take up another sport, got hammered at work, etc, etc. since Atlanta.
So many talking heads, so little data. There was such a lack of passion for tech suits at Convention that it didn't even get seriously debated. I guess the ennui must have already set in.

But people who attend convention seem to be those that always compete no matter the circumstances?
No one is claiming causation, just speculating about possible correlation.

I was just trying to stir the pot. :anim_coffee:

I said "I think."
If attendance is, in fact, down, I think it's suggestive.

Thanks for the info. I will keep looking around for what's available in December.
