In Illinois we are allowed to do 11 event over the state time frame with one distance event on thur/fri with 5 events each day on sat & sun.
What does your state allow & what do you enter?
This is our state meet at the end of S C season. In season meets also sometimes run from 7am warm up 8 am start till 3:30 in the after noon, with 5 entries & relays
Someone has an ides to put the 50 & 100 events at the end of the meet to keep swimmers around. Although that would not make the meet any shouter.
That'd prolly keep me from entering these meets. I usually go through the order of events and check when my events are. If it looks like i'm going to have to sit there for 3-4 hours after warmup, i don't even bother entering that meet.
I don't exactly have any masters meets to reference though since all I know are USAS meets. Are the masters meets all this long?
An idea presented was to switch from 1,650 to the 400 im each year to cut out one long event. What do you think of this idea ?
The mile belongs on it's own day ;)
I'd say the same for all the other distance events but i'd be labeled a hata' :)
I don't see how eliminating one event is going to shorten up the entire meet by much. I suspect most swimmers stick to 50- and 100-yard distances anyway. Do you have any idea how many people actually swim the maximum 11 events?
