Tip 203 List of What to Pack in your Swim Bag for a Swim Meet
Mine has a side pocket, a main storage area, 2 side pockets one dry one wet. I have all kinds of crap in it mostly swimming stuff, the dry pocket has the most stuff & some of it is random, some is trash & needs thrown away
one of the strangest items I have in the dry pocket is
a pair of needle nose plyers
which I use to untie knots in my suit strings
I remember a similar thread from several years ago. Pretty much everyone has the same stuff - but see post #15 for where the discussion gets real good!
Smith & Wesson 38 special 2 inch Airlite revolver , 1 extra 5 shot speedloader with 125 grain + P hollowpoint Winchester cartridges ..... ......concealed weapon permit......
That sounds like my kind of party!
- TRESemme' shampoo and conditioner (not really helping)
A little off topic, but I found a brand of shampoo and conditioner that really work for my hair: Redken Hair Cleansing Cream www.redken.com/.../hair-cleansing-cream-shampoo coupled with their All Soft conditioner www.redken.com/.../all-soft-conditioner.
When I swam in the marathon races I was glad I had regular pliers in my swim pack.
I thought you were going to say they were for after you got out of the water when it was really, really cold. :bolt:
Such an invasion of privacy-
- Eclectic Silver towel (black)
- one brief (black), one TYR drag suit (black/grey), one Speedo drag suit (blue/red)
- finis freestyler paddles
- strokemaker paddles (green)
- tempo trainer (NIB  )
- blue&white striped pullbouy/buoy/boo-ie
- finis freestyler snorkel
- 2 pairs of functional swedes (smoke and green) with bungee cord straps
- several swede parts including gobs of melted white strapping
- grease pad and pencil
- wadded-up, moldy Albatross Open meet program
In my giant black Speedo (boo!) bag:
- TRESemme' shampoo and conditioner (not really helping)
- 3 pairs of TYR Socket Rocket goggles with replacement silicon straps: Mirror Ice (metallized), Blue and Smoke.
- 2 pairs of Speedo (boo!) nylon water polo briefs, size 32, in navy and blue
- 2 pairs of Dolfin Uglies training briefs, size 32, in Loopy and an unknown pink model
- comb (not really helping)
- anti-perspirant (helping)
- Gold Bond medicated body powder
- Edge shaving gel, but no razors (WTH?)
- several quart and gallon Ziploc bags
- a small, rusty lock and key
- a shammy that I got at a recent Nationals, unopened
Do you "air dry" or do you use a towel? What about clothing to wear to and from the pool. I hate sitting in a wet suit on the dry seat of the car!
I carry all three of that list in my "1998 ISHoF college swim forum" bag. :)
I go in wearing clothes.. sometimes a dry suit under my shorts on the way in, and commando on the way out .
And no need for towels, they are provided at the Y.
When I swam in the marathon races I was glad I had regular pliers in my swim pack. When I was swam in the Atlantic City Marathon I had a fish hook go through my hand. I pulled it out with the pliers.

I take my bike messenger bag to the pool that has a lot of space inside:www.rei.com/.../768570
I always take:
- suit
- clean underwear and socks:D
- brush
- hair gel
- board
- towel
- flip flops
- workout plan
- small nike bag I take to the pool filled with:
- 2 swedish goggles
- swim cap
- nose clip
- Timex Ironman watch
Depending on my workout I sometimes include my paddles, fins, pull buoy and/or paddles
Is it just me or does anyone else have stuff in their swimming bag that has no business being in there?
