SUIT EQUALITY

Right now current suit rules dictate, that Men wear must wear jammers or briefs in meets & Women can race in zipperless kneeskins Guys, what if men were allowed to race in zipperless kneeskins? I for one think more coverage would allow me to swim faster. What if masters men were given the choice? What would you choose? Ande

Glad you like my fab suit. But, it's not a tech suit; legal or otherwise. It's just a run-of-the-mill nylon/"Xtra Life" lycra suit that I'm choosing to wear at meets. I'm not at the level to warrant a $350 suit, so I'll stick with this $24.95 sale suit, instead.
  • AndeI know that with a suit I am 5 or 6 seconds faster per 100m than I am at present. The banning of the bodysuit for masters was the most ridiculous decision ever made. So then you're saying this rule needs to be removed: Swimmers are not permitted to wear or use any device or substance to help their speed, pace, buoyancy or endurance during a race because you've clearly admitted that a bodysuit helps your speed.

Guys, what if men were allowed to race in zipperless kneeskins? I for one think more coverage would allow me to swim faster. What if masters men were given the choice? What would you choose? Ande Ande, I and many other masters swimmers in Europe are looking to the States, hoping that you will push towards equality. The men over here would love to have the opportunity to wear the same suits as women. I know that with a suit I am 5 or 6 seconds faster per 100m than I am at present. The banning of the bodysuit for masters was the most ridiculous decision ever made. Old and overweight masters swimmers are hardly going to be a threat to Phelps's world records!
  • I am currently looking to develop the Jim Thornton FINA-Legal Jammers-'n-Pasties Suit for Wet Chicks (TM) and hope to post pictorial updates as they happen on my vlog. Also currently looking for women, preferably in the 19-24 age group, though select members of the 25-29 age group will be considered, to test the prototype adhesives I am developing in my lab. The lab is a pristine building that does not look anything like a scary abandoned industrial complex. I swear..... ;)
  • A great Nanaimo Solution to the swim suit problem. To get more timers offer them Nanaimo Bars. www.google.ca/images Oh man, I used to like those until I made them myself and realized that you were basically eating flavored squares of butter.
  • No, no and no! Here's my solution (one that Jim Thornton will embrace): take the number of square inches presently allowed for mens' jammers and make the women have the same amount of fabric, but of course they must cover up the 'naughty bits'. I think what would evolve is a very high cut on the hips (virtually thong-like in the rear) suit. That would be equality in fabric and boost the numbers of volunteer timers. If you have a few spare moments, check the comments section of my most recent vlog: forums.usms.org/blog.php Herein I make the proposal that rather than bringing men up to the coverage that women currently (unfairly) enjoy, we need to bring women down to the coverage men must now suffer with. Peter is clearly onto something here, but the easiest and most elegant, Occam's Razor-surviving solution, is to simply make women wear jammers or briefs with pasties for the offensive feed nozzles. The popularity of this suggestion with the readers of my vlog is overwhelming, particularly when I proposed a water-soluble adhesive that requires licking to ensure a good seal.
