My recent wrist injury led me to think about this. During the freestyle and backstroke pull phase, how much should you bend the wrist of the pulling hand? Is it the less the better? How about not bent at all? Bending too much either way apparently invites injury as in my case.

There should be a slight flex in the wrist due to the resitance of the water but there should not be much of a bend. I would say the angle at your wrist (if 180 degrees is normal) should not be less than 165-170 degrees at most.
