Anyone sprained wrist/hand during a pull?

Yesterday I sprained the part between my wrist and hand on the thumb side during either freestyle pull or backstroke pull. I was not aware when it happened, but after one lap, I suddenly felt the pain and the hand couldn't make a pull any more (very painful and weak). It hurts a lot and hasn't got any better. The hand is incapable of doing anything in certain directions, even washing hands. I don't know how this could happen :( A pull couldn't have broken a bone, could it? Has this happened to anyone else?

Well, my sprain was a different case. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis so my tendons/ligaments are thicker and more damaged than normal. With meds, ice, and gentle stretching, I would think you could start lightly using your hand in two weeks. That may seem like forever, but it's best to let it heal so you won't reinjure it. As with all sprains/strains, most docs and PTs say 6-8 weeks for full healing.
