I can't say enough about the positive energy surrounding this event from start to finish. In spite of challenging logistics, the organizers pulled this off with amazing success! I have had a blast, and want to thank everyone involved. I also want to go on record to state that the warm ups were exceedingly civilized and if anyone had to issue "I'm sorrries", it was me. What a magnificent experience!
The meet was very well set up, except I missed Mark Gill announcing. I always thought he could do everything - organize the meet, announce the races, and swim a full complement of events. I guess he's human after all.
Elizabeth Nowak, David Guthrie and I had a great time after the meet, traveling to Rincon, Mayaguez, and the amazing Arecibo observatory for a couple days. We navigated using the tourist map, and had some fine rally-type experiences on the narrow tertiary roads. (I've already apologized to Elizabeth, who was in the back seat). David actually stayed for a week after the meet - hope he got some surfing in.
Other than being out of shape, I only have three regrets: we got rained out of the Camuy caves, I didn't drink enough Gasolina, and I didn't eat the lionfish at that restaurant with the incredible view. Who knew that (other than fugu) one could eat poisonous fish?
