I can't say enough about the positive energy surrounding this event from start to finish. In spite of challenging logistics, the organizers pulled this off with amazing success! I have had a blast, and want to thank everyone involved. I also want to go on record to state that the warm ups were exceedingly civilized and if anyone had to issue "I'm sorrries", it was me. What a magnificent experience!
It was all good at Nationals. An amazing facility, a well run meet and a beautiful friendly place. At least for the East Coast swimmers it was not expensive to fly there and because it was off season, the hotels were discounted. The OW race was also well run and at a great location. The relatively small size of the meet (around 630 swimmers) was an advantage. They gave away a lot of freebies and the medals were really nice and unique.
The USMS executives and the Puerto Rico LMSC were well organized and obviously worked hard.
Thank you, USMS, Puerto Rico LMSC and all the swimmers, timers, judges, coaches and supporters of the 2010 USMS National Championship.:applaud:
I'll second that. Been attending Nat'ls since 1990 and this was, by far, the most fun I've ever had at Nationals. Great venue, run super efficiently, challenges of shuttling swimmers pulled off smoothly. The post-meet social was outstanding with tasty native cuisine and live band. Great vibes all around. Viva Puerto Rico!
Ditto! They did a great job on this one. This is by far the most memorable Nationals for me. Part of it is because of the location and atmosphere a true swim vacation!
Great warm up space, well run, fun atmosphere even at the pool. Very festive. I also noticed that even with the thunder that did not stop the meet. I wish my Y would take note this was a pool that is open on the sides yet they did not pull us out of the water for 30 minutes after 1 clap of thunder.
Nice job by everyone.
Agreed! A BIG THANK YOU to everyone at the USMS offices and the Puerto Rico Masters for a wonderful week.
Thank You all for your hard work in putting on a great event in a beautiful facility and city!
I wasn't there, but I loved the video updates on the USMS.ORG homepage ... great except for one thing: it made me wish even more than I had made it out to PR for what looked to have been a great event.
1. I think the PR pool is my favorite competition pool. At many pools, I have breathing problems by the last day, due to the build-up of chemicals from so many people. This pool had the advantage of being outdoors, but covered so the sun was not a problem.
2. The shuttle system could not have been better. Thank goodness we didn't have to drive!
3. I liked the music. It provided a great atmosphere.
4. There was a lot to do and see, and we had time to get out a little.
5. Everyone (at the pool, in the hotel, in any restaurant) was so friendly and willing to help.
Agreed! I can't say enough about the wonderful job done by all involved with the organization and running of the meet. The Natatorium in San Juan was by far my most favorite pool ever; it was truly a pleasure swimming there. I especially enjoyed the waterfall effect as the water ran off the sides of the roof during the meet! :) It was great to meet some masters swimmers for the first time, and fun to spend time with those I already knew from before. My six personal bests and fun relays were the icing on the cake! My husband and I enjoyed combining our 20th anniversary trip with Nationals, and definitely hope to return to Puerto Rico (with our without a swim meet) sometime in the future!
Nice job to the organizing commitee! Shuttles ran well this time.....so glad I didn't have a car to get lost with. Three socials! Fantastic pool with no delays during lightning because it was grounded.
I've been swimming lots of years and was so intimidated by warm-ups and the "extra pool" in Atlanta....so this was like heaven to me.
I liked the Mon-Thurs format in this locale....gave people "tourist" time.
All 3 hotels on the shuttle route were very nice.
