Forum Friends are the best!

When I started reading the forums here in 2002, I never thought I would ever meet people in person. Now I have met so many of you! It is so fun. This weekend I got to meet Jayhawk for the first time! Woohoo! Tell your greatest meet up story about your forum friends..... :cheerleader:
  • The first annual redorkulous meet. Events 1. Deck changes 2. Tech suit relay - we will find out if the suits swim for themselves finally 3. Over analyzing training, complete with formulas and spreadsheets 4. Dryland's 5. weights or no weights 6. Reverse charades - you can say whatever you want, but no visuals Topics: correct strokes, turns and starts. 7. Complain about the complainers 8. Everyone gets entered with NT in every single event (by being entered in every event, you get to scratch more events, complain about having to scratch more events, and confuse other gridgers!) 9. Beer relays are mandatory

Maybe we should have an all-forum meet where we swim under our forum name! The first annual redorkulous meet. Events 1. Deck changes 2. • Um I did at both Zones and Nats...if you didn't see me you weren't looking!!! Oh, and the older ladies at Zones loved this suit... Stud, the younger ladies weren't complaining, either. the only problem with having your name listed on your forum profile is that if someone does a web search, all this blather attached to your name comes up. (these discussions are not all moments that i'm proud of!) True. I got a lovely request from a reporter working for lawyers to comment on my former USA-S coach after things I posted here.

I only competed because of encouragement by some on the forum...now look at me. Met a few NY'ers at local meets and have traveled with them to other meets. Met the main crew at Zones at Red, Hot and Blue...if I had a way to do it. I'd move nearer and swim with them all the time (too many to list). Nats was good for meeting a few west coasters and others from further afar. Allen, Jim C, Ahelee, Ande, Qbrain's wife...oh and Qbrain too Always good to meet new folks.

  • Great idea Alison- ooops- I meant "SwimShark"! I totally agree with Allen, because I hadn't a clue how to find some of you forumites! Finding me was easy! Not only did I provide my name, but I described my funky purple and white Speedo! That's how Ande found me... ...Which brings me to my best memory of meeting my fellow forumites at Nationals! See attached!! (Photos include me with Ande, me with Allen Stark, and SwimStud, The Fortress, and Jayhawk). The first (and favorite! :D ) forumite I met was Ande, who named me, "Elaine-iak", because of my enthusiasm. As a newbie (joined USMS in February 2010), he has been a great mentor! I was wandering around the booths and heard, "Elaine-iak!!!" I turned around and there was Ande with a big hug for me. He's the one who insisted we have our photo taken in front of the USMS background. :) I also really enjoyed meeting all the forumites I was fortunate to meet at my first Nationals swim meet. I'm just sorry I didn't have my camera when I met SwimShark and some of the others... And, I'm REALLY sorry I didn't have my camera ready when I met SwimStud and asked, "Your SwimStud?" He responded by turning his back to me, lowering his pants, and flashing his "SwimStud" prominately plastered across his butt (on his Speedo, that is)! :applaud::applaud::applaud:

I wish we had a chance to take a picture. Sadly with me getting ready to warm-up, I didn't have one tucked in to my suit. That just means you'll have to come to Colony Zones so we can get a picture :)
