When I started reading the forums here in 2002, I never thought I would ever meet people in person. Now I have met so many of you! It is so fun. This weekend I got to meet Jayhawk for the first time! Woohoo!
Tell your greatest meet up story about your forum friends.....
:cheerleader:
I just started poking around these forums, and now I feel like taking a cross-country swim trip to associate some faces with avatars.
No need to go cross country. Just come a bit south to VA for our Colonies Zone meet in Aug for LCM or SC in April. A lot of the forumites attend and it's one big party with a little swimming in between.
I'm not THAT quiet. I flip flop between introverted and extroverted. :D
Yes, we noticed the extrovert become more conspicuous especially after recent breaststroke swims.

I'm retiring from evilstroke. Then, aside from sucking at it without my speed suit, I won't be bothered by officials telling me I took 2 evil kicks on my pullout or by undulation ***. :)
Since joining last November, I hadn't met any forumites in person until SwimFest. Floswimmer had posted she was traveling solo from New York and I responded that I would be there solo as well. After corresponding, we ended up staying at the same hotel and carpooled together to the event and after-party. We also managed to fit in dinner the night before. It was so nice to have a swimming buddy from the forums to hang out with. :)
The attached picture (left-to-right) is of my oldest daughter (who came along for the ride), me, and Floswimmer. After dinner we took a drive down to La Jolla shores and a nice bystander offered to snap a picture.
I was so busy at SwimFest that I didn't get a chance to meet any other forumites, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time.
I got to meet lots of forumites during the Indy Nationals!
I even invited (and didn't regret doing it) two of our most esteemed male master swimmers to stay at my house during the meet.
I'd say this forum is a fantastic way tons of very cool people from all over the USA!
I can honestly say I've yet to meet (or talk to) a master's swimmer I didn't like!
I met with Paul Newsome from Swimsmooth. It was very special since he's basically based oversea. Love story has been ongoing ever since. Got an invitation from him recently to travel to London which I had to decline. I may meet with them in the future in Perth or something....
I also met with Lindsay (a Canadian based coach that is an active member usms) not long ago, and we scheduled another meeting for later this month.
Forums friends really rock! Forums came well before facebook, and yet to me, they kind of perform similar tasks. Bringing people together.
I have met several forumites at meets and they are universally great.I regret that I am not the easiest person to find at a meet as I try to find some quiet hidey-hole to focus on events.
I think it would be nice if more people listed their names somewhere on their forum ID.It seems all the East Coasters know who each other are anyway.I'd like to be able to look in the meet results and see how forumites are doing, but for many I only know your pseudonym.I you don't trust your fellow forumites with your name you can PM me.
