National Records - Age Verification

I was on two relays at USMS SCY Nationals that broke national records. I just received an email from Walt Reid asking me to send him a copy of my birth certificate and/or my passport to verify my age; which I understand having to verify the age. Before I send copies of my personal information I wanted to confirm that this is legit. I emailed him asking a couple questions but have not heard back. Let me know... Thanks!

  • But this is the case with all swim meets. Even if you prove your identity at the door on the way in... it's not like anyone is checking photo IDs as people step onto the blocks. There is a fundamental level of trust going on. -Rick You're right. But since we've had the new suit rules since January all record breaking swimmers have to stop at the secretary desk on deck after getting out of the pool to have their suits verified. I think they will have a similar check at worlds when someone breaks a WR during the meet. (Swedish swimming is small compared to USMS swimming so facial recognition is alot easier)
