2010 USMS LCM NATS San Juan, Puerto Rico

2010 LCM NATS San Juan, Puerto Rico August 9 - 12, 2010 ORDER OF EVENTS
  • The wireless is down at my hotel so I haven't been able to read or post anything.I am on a pay computer at 50 cents a minute so I won't post more til I get back on Tues.Great meet.I am happy with my times and especially my 2nd in the 200 fly.Robert Wright had a phenominal meet and I was lucky to be close to him(and wait til next year,I know I can find a way to drop those .23 sec in the 100 BR.)Anyway Great times. The lack of Tech suit didn't effect my BR much(but the competition helped with times too.)My fly was much slower than last year and I think the suits were a real factor. Congratulations on a great meet, Allen. As you can see from my previous posts (and PM's...), I was :cheerleader: you on whenever I could from the mainland! I'm glad you did well and had a great time! :D

He had motivation, didn't he? He had to beat his fiancé's time. You had a pretty great meet yourself. Any problems swimming straight in backstroke, or did the ceiling help with that? It looked pretty high up there in the pictures. Thanks. I had no problems swimming straight at this pool. I do need to talk to you at somepoint about training advice for the 200. I love the event but I have had trouble getting things to come to together in that race. Based on my 50 back, I know that I have a much better 100 back in me(esp. since I didn't shave) The 50 was a pleasant surprise for me. The 100 was a solid swim but based on my 50, I believe that I still need to learn how to race the front half better. The 200 proved to be a learning opporunity. While I am not disappointed in finishing 2nd, I realized that I should have stayed the course from my first 100. Things didn't feel smooth the front half, so I panicked on the 2nd 100 and tried to do too much to compensate to feel smoothier. I realized know that the front half was pretty smooth and controlled and the second half I lost a solid catch on the water. Definitly a lot to improve upon, but not disappointed in the place.

On a separate note, I always thought that in order to win an individual national championship I'd have to live to be 95+ while swimming the 200 fly. I might luck out before then: Event 40 Men 35-39 200 LC Meter Butterfly ================================================================== NATL: N 2:06.74 6/28/1996 JEFF STUART WORLD: W 2:06.74 6/27/1996 JEFF STUART, USA Name Age Team Seed Finals ================================================================== -- Tujo, Christian F 39 OREG 2:48.00 NS I thought that too, but you just never know - I lucked out on an 800 SCM free in 2004 and came 1st of 3 entrants in my age group - it was the last event of the meet, and not my best event. I'll not be a national champ again any time soon though. Well done to all that swam. I'm considering joining you next year, depending on $$, timetable, oh and how much swimming I get in between now & then....we'll see....

The people of Puerto Rico will see what a skinned Yetti looks like today when Wookiee emerges from the locker room sans his mangy man-mane. "YETI" not "yetti"
  • My world is officially rocked. Dry your eyes and stop with the man-hugs, you pansies. :bolt:

Your results were awesome, Wookiee. Thanks Bud! I appreciate your support.

I'll not be a national champ again any time soon though. Twice at Nationals I've come in 2nd (800 and 1000). I feel like the brides maid and never the bride. The first time I came in 2nd I took 22 sec off my best time and the 1st place girl went almost a full min slower than hers. She only beat me by 2 sec. I was watching her finish and hoping she would slow down. Darn! hee-hee My world is officially rocked. Dry your eyes and stop with the man-hugs, you pansies. :bolt: LOL!
  • I am posting this here as it happened in Puerto Rico.As I noted our internet service is intermittent so I have been watching more TV.I was watching a mystery in which the murderer hit his brother in the head on their sailboat, threw him overboard and then swam 1 mile to shore so that it looked like his brother was alone on the boat and hit by the boom and knocked overboard. One of the investigators figured it out from several clues, but the main one was he was a triathlete and the ONLY one she knew who could swim 1 mile to shore.I realized practically all my friends would have been suspects as we all could make that swim.

Allen, put down the remote! You're scaring me!! :bolt: Really, Allen, do try to enjoy the rest of your time in PR. :D
