Rumor has it that there will be a push at convention to get the Tech Suits legalized for SCYBefore any decision is made I think we forumites should provide our wise counsel.I have been marginally anti-tech suits(I am also maginally anti-SCY,vastly prefering LCM),but if legalizing them will get more elite USA-S swimmers at our meets it may be worth it.
What do you think.
One thing I remember about the convention is that the majority of the delegates didn't vote to keep the suits(aka floatation devices) legal until June 1, 2010 for SCY, regardless of what FINA was going to issue at January 1, 2010.
This tech suit stuff really needs to stop. Go away!
Also, USMS records shouldn't be broken in "bunches" as a headline from Swimming World Online stated. National Records are precious little gifts. The tech suits made national records/any records seem insignificant. That is my Opinion.
that is great. :applaud:
I agree, it would be great if the Icelandic volcano Dlkfjlskarewqjroijlskaj would stop erupting. Maybe this was the wrong forum to pray for such a miracle.
I think that FINA/USA Swimming should develop a "technical" class and an "Olympic" class of meets. All of the traditional big meets would fall under the current rules (no tech suits) and new meets would be developed specifically to allow technical suits. The idea behind this is to find new ways to promote the sport in general and to support technical innovation. Last year there was so much general public interest with the advancement of the suits that it definitely made swimming more of a topic that usual. With the development of the second classification, you would have two sets of World records. In a way it's like Indy Car vs. Formula One. My two cents on the topic.
FINA ruled. USMS made a decision. Let's treat this issue like an injured horse. Get a gun, load it, aim, fire. End of issue.
Time to move on and focus on lcm for the summer and how to improve our swimming for the future.
I am posting on this thread again to get it back on page one.I encourage everyone to vote and get all there friends to vote. The people at convention read the threads and I'd like to think they'd take our majority in to account, whichever way it finishes.
