I graduated college in 1999, just before tech suits took over the world. I have never worn anything other than an old school Speedo (and a wetsuit for open water.)
A friend of mine has pretty much convinced me to try it out at Nationals this weekend since it is my first and last chance. He gave me his suit to wear, so it's free.
Any thoughts? Are most of you wearing tech suits, or going old school?
Thanks!
Glenn @ GoSwim.tv posted this nice little sendoff drill for those of us going to Atlanta and wearing a tech suit... of the floaty kind I imagine :)
YouTube- Turns - Tech Suit Turns. The last hurrah!
I'd say... listen to the tips as Glenn talks through the video clip, but don't watch the swimmers!
Those bobbing heads and streamlines are kinda painful to see over and over :(
Hope I meet Bill in a warm-up lane!
you obviously missed the note at the bottom directed at "swim-technique snobs"... you might want to go back and re-read that part...

Oh sheez Mollie!
You made me sit through that again to watch for a swim-technique snob notation?
Touche - but it is still painful to watch!
I like to think masters swimmers are always on the lookout for "FREE SPEED!"
But there is no doubt some masters don't have quite the flexibility any longer to attain it everytime.

trust me, bill is trying to do everything in his power to get faster- and he's doing a damn good job of it this year. i just don't appreciate smart cracks about my teammates, especially when you don't even know them...
Marc, go for it. I will be wearing a post-June 1st legal tech suit. My back up however will be illegal soon due to a zipper. Both are older technology, though. Enjoy the suit but remember to train for the race.

Ahem, I think it is a little bit too late to be training for the meet. You either "gots it or you don't" at this point! :badday:
As a swimming purist I chose not to sully the sport by wearing illegal suits.
Huh?

Thanks Everyone! That's what I was looking for. Here's what I got.
1) Try it, why not.
2) Make sure it fits and test before the race.
3) We should all be able to find Elaine in the purple suit!
4) If I happen to swim really fast because of this miracle suit, forget the time when I switch back to a regular old Speedo.
5) I will definitely not be alone wearing it.
See you all at the meet!

I've seen elites(high caliber) elites with worse turns and stroke mechanics than what's in the video.
I'd rather watch that video, even if his form isn't perfect...hey, who is though, than read about tom whinning one more time about suits, scys and pool clarity.
