New England meets the end of June?

We will be in CT the end of June and I was just wondering if anybody could tell me of any meets nearby? Or any practice times, preferably in the morning? Thanks!
  • We're staying in Derby with his parents, next to New Haven, but we will be driving everywhere. Pat has family in: Glastonbury, Cromwell, New London, and Newington. Plus, we are starting to show the kids around, so I'm sure we'll be going to MA, VT, and NY again. Where do you swim?
  • The Worcester JCC has practice in the mornings at (I think) 7am. Check out their website...I'm not sure how far Worc is from where you will be. Greendale Y (also in Worc) has practice Tues & THurs from 7p-8p. I'm going to the Middlebury meet in late June...see you there maybe!

They say there's masters swimming there but what I think they mean is that some of the people who swim there (like me!) are masters swimmers. When I asked about organized groups I was told there were none. But, if you find yourself in West Hartford and would like someone to swim with, let me know! http://www.swimcornerstone.com I have also swam with the masters swimmers at Weleyan University in Middletown (near Cromwell). They have workouts both mornings and evenings. www.wesleyan.edu/.../cardinalmastersswimming.htm Drop ins are $10 and the coach Seth is very accessible by email. (sthacker@wesleyan.edu) I have had some contact with folks from the southeastern part of the state as well in East Lyme (near New London). I am not sure what their practice times are but there is a masters group there. Wesley Crozier (wesleycrozier@gmail.com) is the contact and the pool's website is here: http://www.nutmegaquatics.com/. I have been told they have a good program and I have met some of their swimmers but I have never been to a workout with them (a meet and a number of clinics though). For meets, there is the one in VT someone else posted. There is also one in Worcester, MA but it is more midmonth (the 13th). As far as I know that is it for competition in the area for the end of June. Hope some of this was helpful, enjoy your time in CT and southern NE!!!
  • Thanks for the information. It's really helpful. My hubby hates LCM so I don't know if I'll swim in the meet. Unless we can do kid-related stuff around the meet, I'll skip it. I didn't realize it was about 4 hours from Derby! Although the Boomer/Gaines thing sounds awesome. Wesleyan will probably be the one we look at. We contacted Seth last winter but the pool was closed while we were there = ( Thanks again. I appreciate it. :agree:

What about Yale Masters swimming? That club is listed on this web site under Connecticut and works out in New Haven, at Yale's Payne Whitney Gym.
  • If you are just looking for a place to workout you can swim in Woodbridge at Beecher Rd Pool or at the JCC on Amity Rd. In Orange you can swim at the High Plains Community Center on Orange Center Rd. None of them have masters groups, though.
