just wondering how crowded the meet is, how much time between each events. I'm also wondering how long the meet usually lasts. got a big drive the next day and need to get back to the in-laws fairly early, 5ish, on Sunday night.

I'm also wondering how long the meet usually lasts. got a big drive the next day and need to get back to the in-laws fairly early, 5ish, on Sunday night. It's not very crowded, given how large the facility is. There should be 2 pools running simultaneously for each individual event, so it goes pretty quickly. If you don't enter the distance free events (which are at the end of each session this year) then each day should be over at a reasonable hour for you. Bring it on! It's a top-notch facility and a nice meet. And where else will you get the chance to make fun of both me and knelson? Just kidding Kirk! No, not really... I'm sure I'll find a reason to make fun of you. :D
  • Hi there. See meet entry form at swimpna.org with the order of events. Look at the March Wetset on page 13. This is a non-Zone meet so we should have around 300 entries...we'll miss our Oregon friends as they have a meet this same weekend. These numbers are just a guess...from a swimmer, not meet host. The meet does go fast and should be great fun in a very fast pool. Hope you can make it.
  • you are usually starting a gridge. If I go I will be swimming the 500, fly events and IMs. sounds much like what I am planning to do (400 IM, 100 fly, 200 fly, 500 free, 200 back, ???). 50 fly is out as 6th event since it's the only buffer in between the 500 and the 200 back. 50 back, 100 back, 100 IM, and 200 IM are all decent possibilities... That also reminds me to start up the gridge thread for this month's meet at Seattle U... or maybe i'll be all stealthy and stuff this time...

Hi there. See meet entry form at swimpna.org with the order of events. I saw the order of events, that's one of the reasons I asked. Our meets are usually very small, one to two heats per event. so you need to be very careful what you sign up for. I have been bouncing this around since last year. we are usually in the Yakima area this time of year, my wife is from there. But I would love to swim the 500 at sea level. It would be great to actually breath :)

If I sandbag my time enough in the 500 I should have plenty of rest and it is only a 50. When I said IMs, just meant the 100 and 200. Not ready to tackle a 400 IM yet, has way too much breaststroke in it. probably 100 back, 200 fly, 100 IM, 500, 100 fly, 200 IM.
  • If you show up at Seattle U you'll be swimming alone. That's what I meant when I said I was going stealth. If you believed the previous sentence, then I'd like to sell you a cloud.

I'm sorry I'll miss it this year, but our Association champs are the same weekend.
  • That also reminds me to start up the gridge thread for this month's meet at Seattle U If you show up at Seattle U you'll be swimming alone. The ORCA meet is at Helen Madison this year! Also, FYI, I got an email saying the warmup time published on the entry form was wrong. The early warmup actually starts at 10:00. I like the Madison location. It's about 1/2 mile from my house.

It is a great meet. Very fast pool. It's pretty much an all-day thing. I didn't get out of there until around 3:30 PM last year, although I did swim a lot of events. I will probably go this year even though I am too out of shape to swim fast times. I plan to compensate for that by entering only events I have never swum before.
