  • As far as the no complaining goes... Well, I would complain about the 1650 and the 1000 always being on the same day, but I figure that there's no point since it'll never change. Heaven forbid that a sprinter be asked to swim both the 50 and 100 free on the same day, but it's okay for distance folks to swim their two major events on the same day. Guess we're tougher ;-) This is a good point to bring up. I'd be interested in the counter-point from the sprinting crew. I know I'd swim both events if they weren't on the same day.

I think it totally sucks for you guys that the 1000 and 1650 are the same day. I wouldn't mind at all if one of then were moved to another morning (or evening). But the complaints about the meet running late would be overwhelming. Given this, it seems fairly common for people to get a 1000 split in their 1650.
  • Perhaps I missed it but... I haven't noticed anything about swimming both the 1000 and the 1650. Some Nats allow it, some don't. Anyone know about this one? As far as the no complaining goes... Guess we're tougher ;-) Kristi, you seem to get faster the more you swim, so I'm not sure that having the 1000/1650 the same day puts *YOU* at any disadvantage (provided you're allowed to swim both, of course). I wonder why they can't put one distance event at each end of the meet? Of course, if you're a true distance person, it would kinda suck having to stick around through the meet and wait for your other 'good' event (you would have time to recover!) On the other hand, if you're normally allowed to pick one, but not both, of the distance events, you're no worse if you can't take off all the days of the meet and have to pick one anyhow...
  • Yea- Gull is going. I'm hoping to finally get to meet you? I believe I owe you a beer for some cardiac advice a year or two ago. :agree:
  • I'm going - hotel and flight are booked. 100 fly and 200 IM for certain. Beyond that, all fly, ***, IM and free shorter than 500 are options. I'm going to see how well I swim at a couple of meets in the next few months to decide.... I'm already looking forward to it! --mj
  • Planning to go. Booked hotel and since it is only a two hour drive, don't have to worry about plane fare! I'm sure I will swim three or four events, but the only one I am sure of right now is 50 fly. I'm more sure of what I won't swim - any breaststroke event, the 1000, the 1650, or 200 fly.

  • 400 IM, Ande? Isn't that terribly long for you??? I am 90% going (hubby is going for sure). Swimming 50/100 free and absolutely no clue what else...
