Just curious... What do you all think about the 2011 National being held in Arizona? Do you think USMS should consider changing the location? Major League Baseball is pressuring Bud Selig to change the location of the 2011 All Star Game, because of Arizona's new law and the Phoenix Suns have protested loudly. Denver, Colorado, and other citys forbid any city govt. travel to Arizona.
Oh please no. I don't swim to make a political statement. AZ in April/May is awesome and this is a fantastic facility.

Well, I live here and am not a fan of the law at all, but I'm sure I can find laws in Georgia and other states I don't favor either (e.g., gun laws in pretty much every state -- especially my own -- are objectionable to me). I'm with Geek: swimming shouldn't be about politics, the facility is awesome and it'll be a great meet.
I just hope they book SC Nats late in 2013, (after May 21st)
otherwise I'll get screwed like I did in 2008.
Just have TXLA bid for the meet, and you can control your own destiny!

Ohhh, there are PLENTY of laws in Georgia (or my home state of California) I don't favor, that's for sure. Like, in Georgia, you can't buy alcohol on Sunday. Not that I'm a big drinker (I'm not) and I'm organized enough to buy ahead if I have to have alcohol on Sunday. But, REALLY... As far as I know, you can buy gun on a Sunday in Georgia, but you can't buy a bottle of wine for a nice dinner. :confused:
I agree; swimming shouldn't be about politics. Afterall, USMS has nothing to do with that law being passed. I wasn't expressing an opinion either way. It was just something I threw out there to see what people thought about it, because the dialog has penetrated professional baseball and basketball, for starters. It's just an interesting debate with positives and negatives, no matter how you answer the question.
We just had our Regional/Zone Championships this past weekend. Its always hard to feel the reality of Nationals until this meet is finished!
Heard "See you in Atlanta" chiming out all weekend :)
Our Southwest Zone Champs is always 2 weeks out from nationals. There was a lot of discussion about the timing of this meet in relation to USA Swimming's SC season.
"Everyone else is swimming LC by now".
Is our SC season running too late?
Personally, I love short course. But heck, it does mean that our LC season is what - 2 months long?
On another note, mixed bag of final tech-suit burials in Mission Viejo. A few swimmers wearing theirs perhaps 1 race too many!!!

I'm not going but if I did, I'd pack my DL, SS Card, NaturaliZation Certificate, tax receipts for last 5 years etc...I mean...down there without an American dialect, I might get mistaken for an alien...
How about Fulton County/ Atlanta??? Just thinking ahead to our post-Nationals celebration... :chug:

Most bigger restaurants will have sales on Sunday, by the glass. But I will be leaving Sunday after my race to have a belated Mother's Day celebration with my sister, brother-in-law, dad and mom. :bighug:
