Heck yeah! I took another 2 seconds off my 200 *** in practice, today; a total of 5 seconds since taking Allen Stark's advice in "The Breaststroke Lane" thread you started. :bliss:It was my last hurrah before I follow the taper plan you wrote for your friend, in Tip #249.
I can't wait to get out my community's 84 degree pool and see how I do at Georgia Tech! And, I'm looking forward to meeting all of you forumites! :D
You go Elaine!
Ahlee, I know what you mean about LC running "long". I practice with age group and they are already on their 2nd meet of the LC season. By the time I'm ready to compete LC (after Nats and a nice small break) their season will be almost over and ours has only 1 or 2 meets locally. I wish we were closer to the USA-S schedule.

According to the Rule Book, our short course national championship (which can be SCY or SCM) is supposed to occur between Apr 15 and May 31. The championship season for USA-S is more like Mar 1 - Apr 15.
Does anyone know the reason for the difference? Jeff Roddin probably does...
Is our SC season running too late?

I think the lateness this year is simply due to Ga Tech facility availability.
As someone who has kids swimming USAS, I LOVE having Masters Nationals for SCY in May-ish as it almost always means I don't have conflicts with my kids' meets. As for long course, I never make it to Nationals (though might aim for Auburn) because of aforementioned conflicts with my kids' swimming. Oh yeah, that and I never seem to train enough in the summer!

In think the 2011 SCY Nationals is about three weeks earlier than this year, in Mesa, AZ, wherever the heck that backwater is.

It's a suburb of Phoenix, and home to almost half a million folks. Most people would not describe a city of that size to be a backwater.

Never heard of it, is it the USA? Does anyone of any swimming merit swim there? Who runs this shady operation?

Just curious... What do you all think about the 2011 National being held in Arizona? Do you think USMS should consider changing the location? Major League Baseball is pressuring Bud Selig to change the location of the 2011 All Star Game, because of Arizona's new law and the Phoenix Suns have protested loudly. Denver, Colorado, and other citys forbid any city govt. travel to Arizona.

If this were the reason, I would support it. I just wondered...
It isn't the first time I have voiced that masters ($$) should support kids and the sport of swimming.
So we're the last to race? Its fine - and nothing that parents aren't used to doing already!

No.
Remember the 1980 Olympics?
