  • here's the thread for the 2010 SCY Nats. I posted a link to some photos from the 2008 SCY Nats in Austin so some folks are now chatting about the 2010 Nats in the 2008 thread
  • While the pool looks fast, from looking at the facility information, inquiring minds want to know: will the water slide be open throughout the meet? I hope so!!!! :bliss:  :bliss:
  • my friend lives in dc area and said it took 2 hrs to get home. the difference is... in atlanta they drive 100mph in rain, snow etc..then tailgate at 85mph. slam on the brakes get the picture. no signals. the rule is drive offensively. anticipate their move. lol I graduated from Norcross HS, my parents live in Gwinnett County and my sister lives in Dunwoody. I know the traffic in Atlanta well. They tailgate at 85 mph here in DC and drive way too fast in rain and snow, too. The number 1 rule for driving in Atlanta is don't go to the inside lane on the highways! Stay near the outside more.
  • I am staying downtown. Since I am in the 60-64 age group and I swim the long stuff, I decided the commute from my son's house in Lawrenceville would be too long! I- 85 can back up by spaghetti junction and the downtown connector. If I was still living in Sandy Springs, I would have commuted from my house.
  • 6:30 am traffic should be fine. It's really not that bad from Buckhead even during rush hour. I drove it this morning and maybe it added 5-7 minutes onto a 10 minute drive.
  • How is parking near the Aquatic Center? Also, for Wednesday (warm-up), Thursday and Friday, will there be "parking passes" so that we don't get ticketed by the University Police?
  • Since warmups start 6:30am - will traffic be ok at that time? This may be a stupid question, but I've never been to Atlanta before. You'll be fine at 6:30. There is always rush hour in Atlanta but it's not that bad. After living near DC, Atlanta traffic is nothing to me now. I'll be driving from the burbs every day and will just get up early to do so. I'm used to that since my practice is at 4:45am.
  • friday's are always a mess. allow extra time. you are inside the perimeter so it should be fine. it is always a mess until 285 if coming from burbs. i hate driving to the airport.

  • I'm staying on campus. In my judgment the rooms look eminently livable, it's only a very short walk to the pool (no traffic issues!), and at $70/nite + parking, the price is right. The GaMasters 2010 Nats web page has a link to an online reservation system for on campus housing here. Wow. I'm surprised that it's so much. $70 a night seems pricey for a dorm room. We're using a local university's dorm rooms for a water ski tournament and they are only charging $15 a night.
