USMS final decision on tech suits for masters

FINA issued Ruled,www.usms.org/.../showpost.php Soon the USMS rules committee will issue their ruling. SCM & LCM seems to be a done deal, the 2010 seasons started on Jan 1, 2010 & the rule began on Jan 1, 2010. SCY is an American thing. The 2009 - 2010 SCY season began on June 1st 2009 and ends on May 31st 2010. Will the new suit rules take effect immediately or at the end of this season? I've heard rumours we might be able to wear full body suits at 2010 SCY Nats. Look forward to finding out what the USMS ruling will be for SCY. 1/15/10 FINA BUREAU CONSIDERS SWIMWEAR RULES FOR MASTERS The FINA Bureau has considered Masters swimwear rules. The USMS Rules Committee will learn the results shortly and then will immediately reconsider the USMS swimwear rules in cooperation with the USMS Executive Committee. All USMS members will be notified of any changes to USMS swimwear rules and the effective date. Regardless of any changes to the USMS swimwear rules, the June 1, 2009 USMS swimwear interpretations will apply for the duration of the One Hour Postal Swim being conducted in January 2010. from www.usms.org/.../20100115swimsuits.pdf you'll find the update at http://www.usms.org/rules/
  • I have a Rocket Science Sprinter suit that I was never able to wear or return! Probably just your size! Sweet! I can be a hated techie then... :D
  • Companies need to show which suits are 2010 FINA Approved & which ones are not like: 2010 Approved Womens Tech Suits 2010 Approved Mens Tech Suits The new Speedo LZR Elite Jammer & the Speedo Female LZR Elite Recordbreaker Knee are available. Anyone try one yet? I just ordered a Speedo LZR Elite RB Kneeskin and will try it out for a meet 2/5-7/10. On another note, I totally got away with wearing a banned suit in a USA-S meet. I had an older version of the classic cut FSII with the SILCONE bumps, which is a banned version. I am so humbled; I thought it was just me and my "training", but it was those silicone dots!!! Here is the North Texas clarification. www.ntswim.org/template_sub.php

And we have to forgive the various pro-techies. Daddy FINA and Momma USMS are taking away their pacifiers and security blankets and that's made them awfully cranky too! :D Now that is funny. ?
  • Why Sherlock? BTW, still waiting for an answer on the missing meet times. I wondered the same thing as you on that. I have no answer. It clearly wasn't a USAS or USMS run meet, just sanctioned. Either way, it does kind of stink. I saw the results somewhere. If you have those, could you submit them yourself because the crew that ran that meet sure won't.
  • Fort, you will have to forgive stillwater. When his diaper hasn't been changed in several days, he gets cranky. I get the purists confused since they all sound alike, so high and mighty. Stillwater might be the purist who refused to tell us what kind of bike he rides when I asked him why bikers can have the fancy gear but not swimmers. I could be mistaken, most purists look and sound alike, a constant droning hum of self righteous blabber.
  • Puff-Noodler - will you be back here next weekend?
  • Wait, I must repeat, your times won't count. Whew, that felt good. Huh?? I believe the times will count just fine till 6/1/10. That's been the point of this whole thread... Those you wear tech suits, have a blast. I will not be wearing one, but not because I'm a purist or morally superior... I just kinda missed the recent tech suit thing due to poor timing of child #2 and an appendectomy. Boohoo me. I'm not buying one for scy nats just because I don't think I will have earned one on the completely subjective 'Carrie did not train hard enough' scale (or maybe I fall into Geek's cheapskate/doofus category.) Now, if someone wants to loan me one... :)

  • You always have the choice of not swimming in a meet at all. I haven't swum in a meet for nearly 6 years, and the sky has not fallen. I miss the days of masters swim meets just being fun, people thankful to finish a 1650, without everyone worrying about the best gear and records. I find these two statements to be very bothersome. Have you attended a Masters meet lately? Because all the ones that I have attended in the last two years (including Nationals) have ranged between enjoyable (mostly local meets) to a down-right blast (any Nationals). It's what you want to get out if that matters. Even those folks that I know that are very focused on maximizing thier performance still have loads of fun doing it. So maybe you focus too much what everyone else is trying to get out of thier experience and not enough on yours?
