***/Fly kick

Anyone ever try this? And maybe it's a waste of time but I tried this on Saturday and I at least felt like I was getting a better bite with my feet on my dolphin kick and better 'wave' motion of both kicks. With a board of course - alternate 2 kicks *** with 2 kicks fly, repeat. Managed to kick 50s this way in about 53 seconds (scm) which for me is actually quite speedy. Not sure what that means or even if it's a good thing doing it that way but it felt good. But it also could be the worst idea ever.
  • I do a drill that is 2 strokes fly, 2 strokes ***. it helps to reinforce how close the strokes are. I've not tried just the kicks, but think it might serve the same purpose. The drill is Dennis Baker's, not one I cooked up on my own, but it's proven to be a good one for me. --mj

Yes this is an official drill, and a very smart one indeed. Helps inflating some bf kick flavor to your *** stroke kicking (that's the first use that pops to my mind). Also, like you smartly say, since the breaststroke kicking rate is normally much slower than the BF kicking rate, it forces you to glide much more on each butterfly kick.
