Is it just me or do world records in short course meters lack the prestige of world records in long course? And are the 50's just not as big a deal as the longer races? Maybe I'm just showing my age?

My first club team was the Burbank YMCA and it was a 20 yard pool. Maybe that is why I am a "turner not a swimmer".
You want to hear old: My high school pool: Burbank High, had a 100' pool. 33 1/3 yards. Maybe that is why i don't like long course.
In the spring a lot of kids swam in the YMCA League. Dual meets every week with a championship meet at the end. I swam at Burbank Y many times. Most of the Y pools were 20yards. But the downtown 28th Street Y was 15 yards! I swam for the Norwalk-La Mirada YMCA --- which didn't exist other than having a swim team.
