Is it just me or do world records in short course meters lack the prestige of world records in long course? And are the 50's just not as big a deal as the longer races? Maybe I'm just showing my age?

You're so right, Allen! Reminds me of working out with kids in the mid-70's. There was one high school Breaststroker with whom I would work out long course, swimming the same intervals. But his 100 SCY was 7 seconds faster than mine! I think he won a Div II championship in the 100, but was nowhere in the 200. He once deliberately false-started so he would be DQ'd from a 200.
