2009 USMS Long Course National Championships

2009 USMS Long Course National Championships Indianapolis, IN Thu Aug 6th - Sun Aug 9 RESULTS Psych Sheets
  • Hey! Are you here in INDY? Cause if you were, you probably know - or would have seen that relay day is pretty darn fun - and a lot of swimmers enjoyed it! If relay day were located on the 1st or last day it would not be nearly as well attended as it was today. USA teams took back many World records - and several National records were set as well. I agree with the dilemma over the long distance events. Kind of like the idea of relays attached to a distance event too. But how can you plan a timeline when relay entries can't be submitted until the last minute? A day like that could go until late in the night. But I'm sure various committees would appreciate hearing our constructive suggestions for improving the National Championships if they serve all the membership. Sure is hard to please everyone... Yes, I am in Indy. I think that you can plan it based on teams with large number of participants or average relay participants from previous years maybe. Also, this meet is getting done way before dinner time so I don't think that we have to worry about the meet running late into the night. But, this was a good centalized location to have nationals since Clovis was many light years away for some of us East Coasters.
  • Anyone have any good photos from INDY?? I shot a few with my lame little broken down camera. Jimby appears somehow in 75% of them! Guess shooting inside won't create some of the gorgeous shots we had in California, but here are some for the record anyway! If you aren't here... we miss you!

The "new record" in the 800 relay is 8:03 - sorry to spoil one of them ...but the Medley records are very impressive. Forumites on record-setting 800 free relays today. Great job! • But, this was a good centalized location to have nationals since Clovis was many light years away for some of us East Coasters. You drove to Indy, right? So you've probably got a day of driving to and from the meet. If you went to Clovis you'd have a day of flying on each end. In terms of travel time it's probably a wash.
  • Mike may have been a tad aggressive on the first half... You know what's been good to see in the Indy results? The number of young bucks there swimming fast. Check out this result from the men's 18-24 100 fly: 1 Korotkin, Jason T 23 UNAT 58.80 57.53 27.68 57.53 (29.85) 2 Fisher, Zachary A 23 CSMT 58.20 58.82 27.22 58.82 (31.60) 3 Ortiz, Daniel 22 MIL 1:01.84 59.09 27.79 59.09 (31.30) 4 Sivak, David 20 FLAQ 59.33 59.12 27.29 59.12 (31.83) 5 Galvan-Sarabia, Luis 24 FLAQ 59.99 59.26 27.05 59.26 (32.21) 6 Perfanov, Val 24 PAFC 1:01.62 59.68 27.45 59.68 (32.23) Six guys under 1:00 is pretty good. There's usually a couple fast swimmers in 18-24, but lots of times not much depth.
  • 1 Ross, Michael S 41 MESC 2:17.50 2:15.75 26.49 58.44 (31.95) 1:40.70 (42.26) 2:15.75 (35.05) Ouch - I can feel for a fellow Breaststroke disabled swimmer :badday: Tuchler was breathing down his neck on this one. It made me feel better about Mike because he was sure looking like a Stepford swimmer lately. Watching him actually prove to be human (albeit a much superior one than me) and lug a piano on the Free leg helped to disprove the Stepford swimmer idea.
