Very happy with masters nationals. I had no idea what to expect from a taper since I hadn't trained hard, tapered or done a good meet since world championships in Munich in 2000. Wish I hadn't been such a wimp in the 200 free (negative split). Brad, you should be happy. That was an incredible meet and your 2:08 200 negative split is impressive. Yeah, maybe you had a 2:05 or better in you. Too bad about not getting the faster 200 fly time on the books. Seven seconds is a big drop though, and it will be tough to break that record. What's great about masters swimming is that guys you didn't know about get in good shape and end up swimming really fast, break records, etc. I tell you, when I saw 2:18 for your 200 fly I was floored and honestly, if you're going to break my record I would rather that you crush it. You did. As regards the problem with the paper work needed to have our swims recognized...it seems hard enough just to do what you did; then to have to muster all the different people together, gather forms, etc. just to have the damn swim recognized....it seems like too much to ask. Wish it was set up in an easier way. I once had a national record swim go unrecognized because the meet director didn't even send it in. It's uncomfortable to be in the situation of having to pester people to do the paper work, but that's the way it is.
