Masters Swimmers Acting Like Triathletes

Why does it appear many masters swimmers are taking USMS so seriously? What's the difference between the typical "selfish train all day", "it's all about me" triathlete and a masters swimmer who seriously trains as hard as they can.... particularly to focus on setting masters records? Seems like there is a growing parallel between triathletes and many masters swimmers these days. Isn't it just "masters swimming" for health and fun in the end? Does a masters record really mean that much? Is this a good thing? ..... or a turn off for those who look on with amusement.

Dear Sir: I happen to know both Smiths-the individuals whose pictures you made caricatures out of and personally attacked. Despite the fact that the Smiths are "big boys", big targets, and can take care of themselves, I find your public post unbelievably offensive. In part, the offensiveness is because our law firm handles sexual assault cases. And, let me be crystal clear- your public post with link is not cute, funny, or remotely bordering on anything appropriate. Rather, I find, "turns the Smith twins into his bitches" and your posting of "ejaculation" a violation of the USMS posting guidelines-check out the Facq/Forum Rules. If you continue with these posts, I will personally see how the administrator, Mr. Matysekj and USMS feel about you and your posts and whether you and your public posts and links on United States Masters Swimming's website should be removed and/or barred as uncivil/offensive. Your complete lack of sensitivity around gays, women, any ordinary John and/or Jane Doe, anyone sexual abused, etc, in your post speaks for itself. Again, the Smiths are big boys, but you have crossed the line-please stop this and return to being civil and fun natured. Thanks. Sincerely, Robert Killeen Jr.
  • I see Mr. Smith, I am a *** because you can't read my public profile? I am not sure this reflects poorly on me. Yes. It comes with being an elitist 200 freestyler who can't do the splits and thinks anyone who swam for Cal did so because they couldn't get into Stanford... Jazz....still waiting for you to send me a "friend" request. Gull, since using the names of friends in "your book" constitutes "name dropping" let's try these: Doctor Zhivago, Docto Sanjay Gupta, Doctor Laura, Doctor Know, Doctor Kevorkian...and who was that Doc that does all the Lipo and gives out HGH scripts??
  • i'm not taking that bait....but: YouTube - Dropkick Murphys - Workers Song I'll put $100 on it right now... Fort...I actually do, my lasik from 7 years ago has regressed. I'll wear a tutu at nationals next year in Atlanta if you wear a pink "I'm Jim's ***" t-shirt while leading daily yoga warm-ups. Jazz...still haven't gotten that FB friend request?

Be careful Mr. Thornton... 1. Linking false assumptions to particular identities on a public forum. 2. Staying within the USMS Forum Rules with this weblink. The photo is amusing but the comments may offend many. It would be better to stay on topic as the thread was intially posted. BREAKING NEWS! • Careful Mr. Smith..... Masters swimming is not to be taken too lightly. These are all dedicated performances and stand as a measurement of the person. Betting on races makes a mockery of what it's all about. Wow, you must have enough straw men in your basement to have a great party come Guy Fawkes.
  • Fort...I actually do, my lasik from 7 years ago has regressed. I'll wear a tutu at nationals next year in Atlanta if you wear a pink "I'm Jim's ***" t-shirt while leading daily yoga warm-ups. You must have me confused with someone else. I've only done yoga a couple times in my entire life. Because I am genetically superior to you, I can do a lovely split with no effort whatsoever. I am also so senile now that I simply cannot participate in an activity that involves the memorization of dozens of bizarre names, some involving dogs. I would never think of displacing you as Jim's b*tch. Use your I words. "I am Jim's ..."
  • We all know that Stanford people are those who couldn't get into Harvard... I highly approve of the combo of Harvard and body surfing.

The elite swimmers even have their own attorney on the forum. Hey Leslie, will you represent me?

And I believe that if you can't take the heat stay out of the kitchen so to speak...I don't come on here and hide my identity so I can say things that I wouldn't say in person, it's amazing how much courage that gives some folks...I speak my mind, troll, try and have some fun, pass along some workouts in case people are looking...and I welcome the shots back at me, comes with having the biggest ego (and shoes) on this forum! Yes, I have noticed that you don't pull punches and speak your mind freely. That still doesn't mean being associated with Mr. Negative's comments is flattering. There is a difference between being opinionated and elitist.

This thread has truly reached its nadir now that the lawyers start showing up! I am kinda surprised the thread wasn't locked or tossed at that point.
