Why does it appear many masters swimmers are taking USMS so seriously?
What's the difference between the typical "selfish train all day", "it's all about me" triathlete and a masters swimmer who seriously trains as hard as they can.... particularly to focus on setting masters records?
Seems like there is a growing parallel between triathletes and many masters swimmers these days.
Isn't it just "masters swimming" for health and fun in the end?
Does a masters record really mean that much?
Is this a good thing? ..... or a turn off for those who look on with amusement.

Must be the economy - even the lawers are trolling, I mean looking, for work.
LOOK AN AMBULANCE.
Lawyer problem solved.
How is use of the word "ejaculation" a breach of the USMS rules?
Bugger! I got so engrossed in this thread I'm going to be late for practice :bolt:
I believe Robert was referring to this rule.
I also believe that Jim is not going to be overly shocked to find out that he broke a rule.
Just a little suspense builder for those of you who are following this thread. Inside sources say that a never-before-published photograph of Mr. Negative and Mr. White Buffalo could be posted as early as tonight on my popular vlog. forums.usms.org/blog.php (This has recently received the highest poll numbers ever recorded as an accurate and reliable source of competitive swimming-related news, based on a sample of my relatives. Results valid within + or - 93 percentage points.)
Since neither of the depicted parties ever visit my popular vlog forums.usms.org/blog.php there was much debate at this morning's staff meeting as to whether we even needed to vet the accuracy of this photo. The TV department said no; the print editors, a more cautious lot generally, urged caution; and the international syndication rights people were of mixed minds. Say what you want about the main stream media, but we do undertake quite a bit of ethical handwringing over our moral obligations. The vlog's ombudsman suggested a compromise: post the picture but make clear in the caption that there may be a one in a million chance that its accuracy is suspect. It seemed an excellent compromise.
But then the legal department got into it, and given the incendiary nature of the photo, we decided to make 100 percent sure of its accuracy. Which is, alas, taking a little while.
The last thing we want is to pull a Dan Rather here! That is to say, showing a forged document of what was nevertheless a true matter--i.e., our former president's AWOL status covered-over by wealthy paternal friends on the draft board.
In any event, please check back later to see the photo, that is, if it can clear legal and stave off any last minute stays by Scallia, Roberts, and other close personal ideaological cronies of "Negative Buffalo." (Sorry for the in-house slang here. The staff at forums.usms.org/blog.php has begun referring to Mr. Negative and White Buffalo simply as Negative Buffalo, kind of like "Brangelina" or "Bennifer"--a linguistic merging, if you will, of dewy-eyed sex partners whose mutual admiration of corporal superiority leads to a fusion of body and soul of which we little people simply cannot get enough vicarious news.)
Is that a west coast thing? Cause that's for sure not the way I remember it here on the right coast. Heat sheets were paper gold and were disected in great detail. And it's not a generational thing as you and I are from the same age bracket :-)
I grew up in Michigan, though. Maybe my memory is failing me. It just seems like I remember things like watching the Olympics then talking about the races at practice and many of my teammates hadn't even watched.
It's great, though, when you get a chance to talk swimming. Last summer in Portland I shared a hotel room with my old college teammate Alec Mull. Olympic swimming was going on at the time and we got the chance to watch and talk about lots of the races when we were back at the hotel after the meet.

For decency's sake, I had to use photoshop to change the object that she is holding in her hand. It is now our favorite Christian Conservative governor's "microphone" she is clutching with such manual tenderness in her hot but dainty Latin hands.

She has nothing on Cream Puff clad in hot pink Nike suit! And where did that profile pic go? I hope Clydesdale didn't hound her to delete it?
I just checked out KPN's "body shots" album on FB. I think I really need to age up speedy quick. She can definitely take me in a pull up contest.
Apparently name dropping is permitted ("Rowdy", "Eddie") by the culture police. On the other hand, if you are the one writing the code of conduct, I suppose you can do as you please.
For those of you playing along at home, make no mistake about it. Mr. Smith (take your pick) is very serious about his swimming. It's just not cool to let it show.
And I'm "friends" with my fellow "eiltist" Mr. Thornton on FB...how's that work into your "association" theory?
An elitist believes that the elite class should have privileges beyond what the common class is allowed, including dictating the privileges for both classes.
Does Mr. Thorton believe that he is in the elite class? Most assuredly. But does he feel the need to dictate the rules for the common class? I do not believe so. This just makes him egotistical, not elitist.
Mr. Negative is an elitist, and being flattered by being associated with an elitist, you may be considered an elitist as well.
Thank you for your creative use of quotes, I did enjoy it.
