TYR Aquapel tights -- legal?

Anyone know if these are legal? I'm just looking to buy a cheap pair of leggings for some swims this summer until the whole tech suit mess is cleared up. I saw these for $70 @ Kiefer. I believe they are fairly old and, hence, should be approved. Anyone know for sure?

But it would for times swum since the approval list was issued, right? They'd accept times from earlier in the year? You can, however, get FINA TT times during USS meets. What about the Jaked 03? This was one of the 10 suits rejected by FINA, right? If so, how can this be worn at USMS meets like it was at Mission Viejo last weekend? I thought USMS had only said you could wear suits that were submitted for re-testing and that they had confirmed B70s were submitted for re-testing. No, the Jaked01 was rejected. The Jaked03 is on the approved list.

Patrick, . If you are swimming in a USA Swimming meet, you can wear anything on the approved list. Anything not on the approved list must have been introduced before 2008 and must not go past the knee for men. . Where is it stated that it can't go past the knee for men? I thought that was something John Leonard wanted to go back too.

So you think FINA will reject all times prior to USMS officially confirming that they are adhering to the list of approved suits? I do.
  • Where is it stated that it can't go past the knee for men? I thought that was something John Leonard wanted to go back too. It might be stated on your regional USA-Swimming website. It is stated on the Mid-Atlantic website.

But wearing a drag suit over your speedo is not. Go figure. 4. Question: How will this impact Masters competitors? Answer: That suit you bought after September 30, 2007, is legal at this moment, but it could be reconsidered by the USMS Rules Committee after the next FINA-approved swimsuit list is published.

  • I thought it was the swimmer's training, work ethics, technique, and bla bla bla that made one fast. :blah::blah: I've always said the suits are fast, Stillwater. Never disputed that. I've just maintained that is not the only thing behind fast times and that you can't necessarily attribute all improvement to a tech suit. That should hardly be a revolutionary or controversial position.

I remember that Q & A. However, I also recall Rob Copeland saying masters could wear suits that were being re-tested. Such a statement would appear to exclude suits like the Jaked 01 that were flat out rejected. I don't recall the exact language ... have to look it up. There was never a list of what was rejected and what is being retested. The Jaked and the B70 are in the same boat. Both were previously approved and used in competition and now both did not make the fina approved list. Having seen both recently, they look the same. Except one says Jaked on it. The B70 lacks the LZR-like fancy compression girdle that makes the Jaked so obscenely fast. I thought it was the swimmer's training, work ethics, technique, and bla bla bla that made one fast. Can the B70 and Jaked swim by themselves?
