It's shallow for anyone that muscular. You need some fat to float you off the bottom.
Are you going to LCM Nats at Indy?
You know, of course, that I am pretty sure you are really a 65 year old man posing as a Cremepuff for lascivious purposes, and will continue to suspect this until there is an actual siting in the flesh.
:)
Thinking of passing on Indy. Would take an act of god to get me to agree to a 5 day swim meet. 2 and 3 day meets are long enough for me.
You have a good point there. I am a bit of chauvinist (female). 65 year old man. . . 36 year old puma (cougar in training). They are frighteningly similar. You say toe-mate-o. I say toe-mot-oh.
Jimby, this topic interests me as well. I don't know if lifting has helped my speed any but I can give you these numbers.
Had my body fat content measured yesterday as it's been a while.
Zero lifting and dryland - 19.1% Body Fat
Present - some lifting over a period of 2.5 years (endurance/ light to moderate lifting) - 15.9% Body Fat.
So not sure if it helps speed but it sure as heck helps fat disappear.
I would like to take your word for it, but just as my blog on this topic is dedicated to a scientific-based examination of weight training and its effect on swim performance, so must I remain neutral on claims of reduced body fat percentage in CremePuffs until I am able to verify same independently and scientifically.
When can I and my calipers arrange for an examination?
I would like to invite anyone interested in the relationship between strength training and swimming performance to check out my vlog on this topic.

Though you don't always get this sense from reading the boosters of weight lifting, there is a lot of controversy in the research community about how much, if any, good weight lifting does in terms of improving swimming speed and/or endurance.
I have posted a couple of the abstracts I was able to find from Medline and Google Scholar searches, and I was unable to find anything that suggests weight lifting/resistance training helps improve swimming performance.
Final note: I am interested in this topic because I think I am much like many within our ranks: mightily impressed by Leslie The Fortress, Chris Stevenson, Jazz Hands, and others who lift extensively and often as part of their training. I've recently made tentative inroads to trying this myself. But I do want to know if it's likely to help my swimming or just delay frailty in old age (not a bad reason to do it, of course, but not the same motivation as, say, dropping a half second in the 50.)

Meh, 5.0 in Inglewood, not even worth ducking under anything.
Nothing exciting happens in FRESNOID... you have to venture over to CLOVIS for real action!!
And in my neighborhood of Orange County... it definitely rocks!
What has this got to do with blogging?
Nothing!
No one blogs from California that I can tell.
We're all students and support crew.

You're just jealous I live in such an exotic, resort-like community.
I can start the first California blog. It would feature some of the more spectacular events around here. For a dramatic start that would surely keep everyone enthralled, I'll focus on the daily thrills of the raisin drying season!
Thanks for initiating this thread Ande!
There are so many different blogs over there, it is almost overwhelming. And some seem to take on a life of their own, with a single blog post generating 30+ comments. I try to keep up with about 5 other blogs, but I'll usually take a look at most when I'm home/in the office. Even though I don't comment on many, I do get some great ideas from all the different blogs we have here.
I see maintaining my own blog as a way to track my progress. Sure I like getting comments, but it is also great to go back a month or more and see how things have (hopefully) improved.
This is also a great way for the, "middle of the pack," crowd to find out what each other are doing. Some of us who aren't all that fast swimmers, but still like at least a little virtual competition. While the super-fast folks will usually go to Nationals, most of the not-as-fast won't.
Lately, my blog seems to be more about running, but I promise to get in some swim workouts soon!

Tim, is this some sort of euphemism for "us" slow B4$T4RD$ ?:D
