Blog Talk is a thread to recoginize, discuss, share, stuff happening in the USMS blogs, here on the general forums. Please point out certain sets, certain swims, & meet performances. Rather than have the blogs languish in obscurity.

As far as workouts, I should point out one cool thing about the blogs that may be good for people working out on their own, or coaches looking for ideas.
On the top menu (above), go Blogs --> Blog List. Then on the side categories, click on "Swim Workouts." You get a list of all the posts by bloggers who have bothered to categorize the post as a workout. There are other "universal" categories but that one seems the most useful to me.
A side message to bloggers: consider categorizing your posts for organizational purposes. You can also create personal categories. For example, I have created one specifically for "test set" days and another for "broken mile" days so I can easily look up my past performances on those types of workouts. Makes it useful to track progress...or lack thereof... :)
I'll start trying to remember to categorize! I'll also aspire to do some of your test sets when I start training hard again.
Id like to thank everyone who posts regularly on their swimming blog. Like Ashlee says, they are a godsend to the self-coached, and have helped me out immensely.
So... thanks everyone, it is very much appreciated!
Matt
I think some of the most useful discussions on this site end up in the blog comments, which is great if you are a regular follower or a participant. But I have tried to find information in the comments after the fact, and it does not seem that the comments are indexed for search, unlike the blog posts themselves as well as the threads in the forums. This is a shame.
So if you see something that is valuable to you in a comment, you might want to copy and paste it somewhere, or risk never being able to find it again.
Or, link it here.
Jim, I am neither a bright man, nor a careful reader.
Sorry Ahelee... it must happen all the time in print.
Matt
It's all good. I didn't have anything better to do than jokingly hassle someone I don't even know :canada:.
Print? You should hear people try and pronounce it.

I get it wrong too.
... and then Jim showed you the error of your ways, yeah?
I like your blog - thats an impressive amount of distance you ring in each week. Thanks for keeping it updated!
Matt
Oh yeah! So far so good with keeping it updated. and Thanks.
If you are swimming on your own - or find you have zillions of questions about how to get faster while training in a masters program that is not actively coached or competitive...
Look through the blogs and find a few to follow.
I look through them all now and then, but it can be overwhelming to stay on top of more than a couple. I actually subscribe to the few I follow so that they drop in on my email and I don't forget to look at the current post.
I tried to find the few that focused on my own needs and goals as a swimmer and a coach.
I can honestly say that these 4-5 blogs kept me inspired and focused for the past 10 months of training and coaching.
Excellent resource.
Spread the word...

Love the "fast chatty female" descriptor. Certainly Fort's blog gets as much traffic as even the most popular forum threads.

(Honestly, I kind of like the "obsurity" aspect though...I don't think I'd ever post my workouts, or performances in them or in meets, on a forum thread but the blog posts require a little more work to find, so I know -- or hope -- that only interested parties wade thru my own junk...)
