It is my understanding that the 2010 SCY Nationals will be May 20-23 in Georgia. Is this correct?
And, does anyone know which format of events they will be using?
Thanks :)

For those westcoasters and rocky mountaineers who may not be seduced by Hotlanta's charms and distance and for whom their local champs leave a sense of something left on the table, consider this: Canadian Champs (and the chance for world records, FINA top ten etc. are the very same weekend... in Nanaimo, British Columbia. yes indeed, that's where I hang my hat. Wonderful facility, very fast pool and organised by the club known to stage the best after-meet socials anywhere.
Just thought I'd mention it. Excellent airline connections to Vancouver or Victoria, B.C. from the US (local airport connections through Air Canada which code shares with quite a few US majors)and a scenic and adventure paradise surrounding. Whale watching, Great Bear Rainforest, hairy-chested surfing etc.
I am originally from the Seattle area and would love to do a meet in BC (played in a water polo tourney there once). But lucky for me I live in Savannah now and will be close by for the 2010 SCY Nationals. Looking forward to it!
A large McDonald's coffee and a few layovers on the way down and I'll drive too.
You need a roomie there Zac?
Drive for me, too. My roomie will be my husband at my parents house. Ah.. I love free housing at a meet :) I'll be about 30 min from the pool.
I am actually really excited to swim in this pool. Atlanta is a fun city, if you know where to go. Lots of good shopping, Atlanta Braves games, and excellent restaurants. I am glad that this one is within driving distance for me!
You only take marta if you place no value on your life. it is worse than the Chicago,NYC, and DC metros all put together.
I will dispute this statement. Taking Marta is the way to go with the meet at Ga Tech. Driving in that area is rough and Marta takes you right from the aiport to every location. My wife takes Marta from the airport weekly to the suburbs. There is nothing wrong with Marta. If you drive into ATL, park at the hotel and cab or walk from there. Avoiding Atlanta traffic is an art, the less you drive the better.
Dispute it all you want...but having taken too many trips on marta, I will take my chances driving in atlanta. And the GT campus is fairly calm area. Across i-75, that's a different story.
Actually, Tech is on the "worse" side of 75, across 75 is Midtown, which is actually quite nice and where most will probably stay. I don't see any need to drive after you get to your hotel, as you can take cabs or Marta everywhere from there. I will admit Marta can be a bit sketchy downtown but if you are going north to the Buckhead or Perimeter area, you'd be an absolute fool to drive when you can get there on Marta in 1/10th the time and not have to park in that mess.
Atlanta is a huge city, with all big cities have, good and bad. I think it's wrong to paint Marta as dangerous. I've taken it a zillion times and have never felt the least bit threatened, nor would my wife take it if it were dangerous.
I agree, MARTA is fine, if not a little smelly sometimes. The only problem is it doesn't go everywhere like the public trans in NE cities. I always take it to the airport and Braves games. My husband rides it to work daily.
MARTA does not actually stop on the GA Tech campus. You have to get off at Midtown and catch the Stinger shuttle to take you over to the pool, or it will be a bit of a lengthy walk especially with a heavy bag fulll of gear.
Guys, ATL is like any other big city, there is traffic and crime everywhere. Its "usually" in pockets and certain areas, but it is everywhere. GA Tech has quite a few "incidents" of late (muggings, shootings, etc), but then again it is right in downtown.
MARTA is the same way, a mixed bag. The problem with MARTA is that unless wherever you are going is right off the station it is easier and faster usually to just get in the car and drive. I have a beef with MARTA when it comes to our 2nd amendment rights as well. I always just drive into town as no lines come up my way anyway, but its not worth the time, money and hassle to ride it....its about 20 years out-of-date at least for ATL's transportation needs.

Do you have pool pics? I love BC.
That reminds me to look for meets in Canada this summer when I'm up there.
