I was scoped in 1998. At the time I was a runner, not a swimmer. I seem to recall something like six weeks (maybe more) before I could run much. I imagine if you're not doing breaststroke you should be able to start swimming (little or no kicking) as soon as your stitches are removed and build up the kicking as your knee can tolerate it. Of course you might want to get your doc's opinion on the matter as well.
I had this back in the 90's. Knee felt better the day after surgery. Never bothered with crutches. Flew to parents 3 days later for vacation. Back in the pool as soon as stitches were out.
