Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but the Speedo Polymesh square leg suit is pretty good. It's a little over $20 at Swim Outlet and lasts forever--in my experience about a year of 4-5 times a week.
I know that Swim Outlet says that they run large, but I'm not so sure what that means. They seem to fit about the same as Speedo jammers of equivalent size--at most, just a little bit looser. And, based on how they fit, a size down seems likely to be too tight. Keep in mind, though, that I'm buying on the large end anyway (I get 38s for practice suits), so my experience may not translate over for the enviably thin.
Oh, and I should warn you if you do get them: When I say they last about a year, I mean that. However, they do not fade or become see through or stretch out or anything like that. In fact, at a year old, the fabric looks every bit as new as when the suit was bought. The stitching is another matter. You'll notice that they have stripes on the side. At around a year, the stitching on those stripes starts to come apart and the stripes pull away from the suit. That is a signal that ALL of the stitching is about to fail, including the stitching at the BOTTOM of the suit. A friend of mine discovered this--though thankfully in private. May not be such a big deal if you are wearing them over jammers, but thought you should know.
buy anything polyester and it will last for 4 years or so. If you are at a Y pool, they Lycras will wear in three to six months tops.

Thanks John! How does it size for you?
I wear the Kiefer mesh drag suit found here.
The suits last 3-4 years, typically the stitching goes before anything else. Sizing is smaller.....I wear a 30 in a typical suit but wear a 34 of this over it.
Another good drag suit. Dolfin polyester suits last long and they don't take long to dry whereas the Speedo Endurance Polys take alot longer to dry.

What about regular, just above the knees swim trunks like you'd get at a department store?
Thats what I use. Cheap, Old Navy 100% poly board shorts. They're thin but baggy. Has lasted 3-5 day a week training since Labor day.
Not that you want to get in my pants there stud, but I ware the Dolfin Men's Dragster... I have a Hawaiian print that is a bit more girly, but I thought this one would look great on a "swimstud" like you! www.metroswimshop.com/product.DFN_6610T_21.htm
I have had mine for a year and wear it every practice and its still going... and the price through Metro is great! $19.85 each.
