University of Washington is cutting both their men's and women's swimming programs. I hope that the people who do their Masters training there aren't affected. Usually, it's the men's program that gets cut. But, here, they cut both of the swimming programs.

This is very sad news indeed. The UW football team has shown to be trouble through the years, getting suspended twice, I think, for recruiting malfeasance. The swim programs routinely have the highest GPAs and graduation rates of all sports, yet get the axe first off. The ASU program is ok for a couple of more years, until an endowment is in place to make it permanent. If UW only has 6 lanes, that is a problem to recruit with and establish an endowment. They had some great swimmers come from that program in the 70s (Robin Backus, Steve Tallman, etc.) Did Scott Lautman go there?
