Mike,
It was a lot of fun watching you swim this weekend. The best comment came from Rob Butcher on Sunday. He told a bunch of us what was going through his mind in the 50 free, when he saw you kicking on your back.
You have an amazing backstroke. Congrats on your swims!
I wasn't at the meet so I don't know whether there is a video of Mike's (or anyone else's) swims. I suspect so.
John Carlson of Reston Masters sent me the link below of the final heat of the men's 100 IM. John was filming his teammate Kirill but lanes 3-8 are mostly visible during the video. At the bottom (lane 3) is Jon Blank, I was in lane 4, Jim Tuchler was in lane 5, Neill Williams was in lane 6, Kirill Choulga was in lane 7 and Andrew Burnett was in lane 8.

Hey by the way, there are other swims at the bottom of Jeff's YouTube window from Zones and other recent local meets- I just got to see myself swim (vid was of Kirill and I happened to be next to him at the Tropical Splash) for the first time in almost 20 years. Thanks for posting this Jeff! Made my day.
I found this video of Mike Ross' 50 Free heat. It's of Kirill and Mike is just out of the picture 3 lanes up. You can see his first dolphin kick off the wall and just when he comes up, but thought I'd post anyway.

Based on the link that Jeff posted; bits and pieces of Colony Zones footage of Mike Ross. Reston Masters took a lot of video and if a RMST swimmer was in Mike's heat, that's where the following comes from:
Another smidgen (10m in lane 4) of Mike's 50 fly:

Mike's feet in the turn of the 50 back, lower left corner (yep, lane 4):

Nice swims by RMST too. OK, back to work. . .
Mike swam for Princeton. I remember watching him leadoff their 200 Medley Relay at Easterns (their medley won NCAAs two years in a row, BTW). That was before the 15m rule. Also, back then you had to touch the wall with your hand before flipping, so he swam the whole first length underwater and then took one stroke and flipped. On his second length I think he took 3 strokes to touch the wall for his breastroker. And it's been a while but I want to say he broke 22 doing that.
Gee, and I was thinking he went 48.49 in the 100 back simply because he was intimidated by the big guy in the lane next to him and didn't want to get 2nd place?
