  • 20.94 is an amazing achievement by Bousquet. Craig Lord is in rare form (swimnews.com/.../6827): He is now the first sub-21 man in history - not the history of swimming, you understand, but the first sub-20sec man at the dawn of a new sport. The old one is dead, well and truly. I'm really not following this. I go to the pool and work on stroke technique, SDK's, breakouts, speed, etc. I enter meets and race. Doing fast times depends on good stroke technique, correct pacing, being well-rested, etc. The suit I'm wearing is just a cross of a t or a dot of an i in my race preparation. I didn't swim as fast as I wanted at PNA Championships because I was sick; my Tyr Tracer Light suit didn't miraculously save the day. If the scales of the sport are changing due to technology (a la tennis in the 80's and golf in the 90's) then I have no problem with that. Does anybody here really think that what we're doing is not swimming anymore? For me, the core experience hasn't really changed at all.
