2009 YMCA MASTERS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP April 16 - 19, 2009 Fort Lauderdale, Florida RESULTS Psych Sheet
  • Jim, I won't say the suit issue didn't cross my mind, but not to begrudge Rowdy's accomplishment, which I have absolutely no problems with. It was more wondering how fast I might have gone wearing a B-70 11 years ago. Even in '98 I was wearing an Aquablade knee length and I'm sure that made a difference. But it cuts both ways. Now I'll be able to wear the latest iteration of suit technology and delude myself into thinking I'm not slowing down as much as I would be without one. Right now I'm beginning to focus on next year when I age up and hoping that a B-70 (or whatever is legal and the latest at the time) helps me get under :50 in the 100 free one more time. If it would only be as simple as wearing a fast suit. Rich
  • Rich, I have no doubt you will continue onwards to glory till the Gods themselves become envious and turn you into something synonymous with speed in the water. An albacore tuna, perhaps, or maybe more appropriately a new current that takes the place of the Gulf Stream when global warming floods the inlands. What's the fastest way from Denver to Quito, Ecuador? That's easy. Get a canoe and ride the Abrahams Current straight south.
  • the site is down. i guess too many of us accessing it.:)
  • wasn't that impressive? Rowdy's a pretty little guy, think he's 6 foot nothin not a power swimmer. He has phenominal feel. Eddie saw it when he signed 17 year old scrawny Rowdy to Auburn. Think it's funny that he entered the 100 free with a 55.0. Many of the champions of yesteryear refuse to train, show up at meets & risk humiliation, so kudos to Rowdy for showing up. I don't think he trained much for this & went in worried, imagine what he could do with more training under his belt? Ande Ande, I believe Rowdy's 200 was the fastest 200 overall in the entire meet. Not bad for a 50 year old. I've got mixed feelings re Rowdy's 50 free yesterday. His 21.62 broke my oldest current record (21.73) from 1998, which is a teeny bit depressing, but I'm honored that it was Rowdy who did it. Really, it was about time. I predict that Paul Smith will go faster by a bunch if he ever gets it together to swim in a big meet. Paul, why no SC nationals this year? Rich
