are we sure that's Phelps? If true, he seems to have a habit of screwing up in the very next Novembers after Olympics... anyone here from the UK? How reputable is "news of the world"? How could he be so careless?

  • However companies should drop all of their endorsement contracts with Phelps (and other athletes as well) on the simple grounds that endorsements are a huge waste of money. I'm not going to be urged to buy anything just because a product (especially Speedo and their hyper inflated priced tech suits) has an athlete's endorsement. The reality is that the money paid out in endorsements just drives up the cost without adding any value to the product. :2cents: Dolphin 2 You've made this ridiculous assertion before and it is a lie of epic proportion, along with your assertion you've been in a tech suit. Do you really think companies dole out millions for endorsements if there is nothing in return? Have you ever read how much money MJ and Tiger have brought into Nike? Have you ever bothered to look at ratings for golf events without Tiger versus those with Tiger, how about NBA games with Lebron versus without. I've read estimates that sales of Jordan merchandise have generated over $3 billion for Nike. Nike was struggling before Jordan. Please stop spouting as fact what you know nothing about.
