Michael Phelps and a bong? Is there any truth to this?

are we sure that's Phelps?
If true, he seems to have a habit of screwing up in the very next Novembers after Olympics...
anyone here from the UK? How reputable is "news of the world"?
How could he be so careless?
The watch could be a knock off and I can't get a clear picture.
From what I heard, the News of the World isn't that reputable. Or, is it another one of London's 50 daily tabloids.
Why didn't this picture come out in November?
Besides, the National Enquirer wouldn't have gotten this story back in November.
I heard years ago that this swimmer(Olympic gold medalist and everything, allegedly because I never heard it in the media), that he/she failed a drug test due to pot and she was still able to compete in the 1996 trials. Apparently, he/she took the test again and passed with flying colors.
Theories
If this is not Phelps, the guy in the picture's girlfriend could have dumped him for Phelps or to try to pursue Phelps.
It looks as if the suspect's hair in the tabloid pic is cut shorter and is not as curly as Michael's when comparing it with the photo from getty images. I don't think the guy in the tabloid pic looks a lot like Michael, he looks heavier and the skin tones don't look quite the same, regardless of angle of pic and differences in lighting. Maybe I'm wrong, but to me it doesn't look like him. It'll be interesting to see if anything comes of this. Meh…

They've had their hits and misses...but there's nothing conclusive about the photo. I was cracking up at the nationalistic comment postings.

Yes, you know, I've always found the British to be very funny, whether they're intentional or not. :)
Could be a guy that looks like him. It's kind of hard to tell. I mean, I have no doubt Phelps has done plenty of this stuff before (we all know he's a party animal) but I have difficulty believing he could let his guard down when so many piranhas in the media love to tear the big people down.

I find it really interesting that that photo was allegedly taken in South Carolina in November and it is just now surfacing. Also, you really cannot tell it is him. A lot of Americans fit his physical description and could probably pass for him in a picture from that angle. LMAO.

LOOK AT THE WATCH.
Even if someone looked like him (yeah right you can't match those ears anywhere), I doubt anyone else is going to get that watch to try and pull this off.
That's definitely out number one screw up.

The photo (even the big one) is too fuzzy for me to see that watch that clearly, not that I know what kind of watch Phelps wears.
Like I said, why wait 3 months to release the photos?

How do you know that's his real watch? Has it been seen in other pictures?

Okay, now I really doubt this story...
here's a picture of Phelps on Nov. 17, 11 days after the photo was supposedly taken.
www.gettyimages.com/.../WireImage
The hair on the back of his neck is much longer and reaches down much farther than the hair on the back of this dude's.
Unless Phelps can grow his hair really fast...

I tend to think if this was a real photo, more people would have had a copy of it, and it would have come out much earlier.
