Carlos - I do think people tend to think of fried chicken as being associated with the South. I said this earlier, and I'll say it again: Fried chicken AND waffles TOGETHER on the same plate at the same time = African-American culture. There's a restaurant chain built on this theme: Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles. The fact that geek and swimstud kept on bringing my ethnicity into the equation (talking about "my America" and "their America", which alludes to a discussion from last summer in which ethnicity was an important issue), alluding to it constantly and then outright, leads me to question their ability to look at me as a person rather than "that Hispanic guy".
