Michael Phelps and a bong? Is there any truth to this?

are we sure that's Phelps? If true, he seems to have a habit of screwing up in the very next Novembers after Olympics... anyone here from the UK? How reputable is "news of the world"? How could he be so careless?

  • :confused:I just read on Yahoo that Michael is not denying the accusations, and he says he is sorry to have disappointed everyone, especially his Mom. He further states he is just a 23 year old and he made a bad decision. He said he will never do anything like this again! I give the kid credit for being honest (he may regret it when his sponsors are through w/him). As a mom of 1 current and 2 other former teen-agers I will say he could have done a lot worse. I seriously doubt he has a drug problem at this point, and maybe this unfortunate situation will serve to remind him that his super-star status brings alot of responsibility with it. I think Michael Phelps did a great job handling himself, the stress, and all the publicity during the Olympics. I felt he represented himself and USA Swimming as a true champion. I hope he/his reputation makes it through this situation; even superstars deserve a little understanding. Good luck Michael. I do think he deserves a little understanding as well, but he needs to change his lifestyle before he goes down the road to even more reckless behavior. People that die of an overdose of cocaine start out with milder things such as alcohol and pot. Michael may never go down the road towards even more risky behavior, but the fact that he was as reckless as he was, knowing that he is under the microscope, is a red flag. Self-destructive behavior leads to more self-destructive behavior.
