I have to laugh, because my hair is also changing from dark brown to blond. I swam all my life from 3rd grade through college, but never had a hair color change like this. I also tend to lose the hair on the outside of my calves as I rub that area when I pull myself out of the pool. Ah and people think there are no injuries in a pool.
  • I, too, had a problem with itchy skin after swimming. It felt like little needles pricking my legs and arms. I have had success with 2 different methods: 1) Use baby oil at the end of each shower (Not just after you swim) or; 2) Lotion after every shower (Again, not just after you shower after a swim). When looking at the ingrediants, I learned to avoid any lotions with any type of alcohol, for alcohol dries skin out. With me, the sooner I did these after swimming, the more effective they were.
  • i'm still testing this theory out myself, so i'm not sure it works yet, but i'll pass it on in case it does work. this one has to do with hair color loss. i just read an article in a book that said that hair absorbs and holds onto the first water that makes it wet. SO in theory, thoroughly wetting your hair in the shower before you swim (and wearing a cap of course) should prevent your hair from absorbing chlorine. i'm thinking that even if it doesn't totally prevent chlorine absorption it should cut down on it a little. so far it seems to be working and i've been doing this for a couple of weeks (since the last time i had my hair colored). it's worth a try. as for the skin - use moisturizing shower gel (never soap) and use lotion after every swim and shower. good luck
