but not so many still willing to do beer bongs or engage in the lost art of punching a hole in the bottom of the can, then popping the top and shotgunning a 16oz tall boy.
It's good to be needed.
Ooooooo, I remember 6-gunning. Actually paid for a spring break trip by 6-gunning 12oz Buds in under 30 seconds. The headache afterward was spec-TACULAR but I partied for for a week in Panama City, Fla for free :banana:
I should have clarified this. He actually said "tell your wife it's non-negotiable". He knows that I fly for free, courtesy of marrying a now-former flight attendant. He also knows I like beer. A lot. The coach, who shall remain anonymous but whose initials are Paul Jones, is going, used to coach down there somewhere, and is really just looking for someone to party with. The actual swimming is far down or perhaps not even on the list of the reasons the trip is mandatory.
He would never throw me off the team, because I have hosted a couple of team parties where I fed him beer. We have loads of non-drinkers and "1 beer or glass of wine only for me, thank you" types on the team, but not so many still willing to do beer bongs or engage in the lost art of punching a hole in the bottom of the can, then popping the top and shotgunning a 16oz tall boy.

oh cool then. Have a good time!
The date came directly from Coach Mark Rankin, the only thing they are missing is a sanction number. They should have that shortly as well as a link for the meet sign-up. From what Coach Mark said, they are fine with their facility for "a while" so they should be fine. What the long-term holds for the team and facility is an open question but they have weathered a lot over the last ten years so I expect Brophy/Phoenix Swim Club to remain.
I will echo that, the pool is fantastic and the facility is a great place for a meet. It is surrounded by grass and trees, making it tolerable even in the middle of the summer. The water is clear and clean too, great place to swim.
I was there on Sunday and the locker room (men's that is) still suck. That is one aspect of that facility that baffles me, great location, great pool, great surroundings, great team heritage, awful locker rooms...
The point is, this would be a great training meet for Fresno. Especially for you East Coast/Central folks since you will get used to swimming outside in the sun on Pacific Time. See you there?
You guys in Arizona swim at some nice facilities. Two training pools and everything and at multiple locations.
Everyone here is KILLING me. I really, really, really wanna go and can make it happen with regards to airfare and hotel but not time off from work :badday: :badday: :badday:
PLease stop it before I curl up in a ball and start whispering to myself.
I've mentioned many times that I will not go to Clovis. And it turns out that my life and work schedule will prevent me from swimming in any short course yards meets this year, unless the Arizona State Masters team decides to hold a meet on a weekend that I will be in town.
I'm sure the posting of this will cause many people in the 35-35 age group to jump for joy.
You must be a breaststroker, too:bliss:
An aspiring one, yes. Will beer help me get faster? I suppose that I might be able to up my intake, although I think I'm pretty close to max capacity as is . . .

I recommend you quit your job. You can always blame the economy. And it may be your last legal swim in a B70. Remember, "When tech suits are outlawed, only outlaws will have tech suits."

Hey! You need to be there. So far I know of only 2 THT members that are going (and one of them is me).

It's on the AZ LSMC website (see www.azlmsc.org/events.htm), but I'm not 100% sure. My only hesitation is that I know the Masters' team that works out there (Brophy Masters) is going through some "ownership/pool space challenges" as Paul mentioned in another forum thread. You might want to ping Doug Adamavich to see if its 100% confirmed, especially if you're considering coming out.

The facility is quite nice (www.brophysportscampus.org/.../index.html) and very close to excellent hotels, restaurants, spas, entertainment, etc. Deep pool throughout. I used to train there, but haven't competed there in awhile. My daughter swims her brains out, though, whenever she's at that pool so it's got some good mojo as far as my family is concerned.

One caveat: the locker rooms (I can only speak for the men's) completely suck (unless they've revamped them since November when I was last there).
