Is this a yards meet?
Those qualifying times are quite fast, even if it is yards.
Our Masters Nationals have no qualifying times. Although I guess there's a few more swimmers in the US than the UK so they need to keep the numbers manageable.
Dolf,
USMS runs a Short Course (usually 25 yard pool) and a Long Course (50m pool) championships each year. The QTs only come into play to be able to swim more than 3 events. Being a USMS registered swimmer allows you to swim three events regardless of time. You can swim up to 3 bonus events if you meet the QT for each bonus event. So for example, if you make the QT listed for the 50,100 and 200 free for your age group, you can enter those three events and any other 3 events that you desire. And yes, they are generally a very well attended event. This year's Short Course Champ in Austin, TX had 1900 swimmers and the Long Course in Portland, Or had 1300. Makes for some long days but it's a lot of fun.
Well if you decide to do this meet, let me know. You may be one of the first to see me break my 6 year hiatus of doing meets (I think that's how long it has been since we hosted nationals here in AZ, that was my last meet). Even if you don't do the meet, you should come to a few of our workouts (or meet Patrick's group in Scottsdale).
Looks like I'll miss it. :( I'm going to be in AZ (Tucson) sometime around April 5-12.
Is this meet definitely on for the end of March?
I'm not going to Clovis. I'm traveling to AZ in early April and don't want to do another long round trip to a more remote spot on the west coast. Tentatively planning on Indy.

As for nationals (SCY or LCM), no. Too much work stuff going on to even think of vacation then. Too bad the meet was in Portland last year, as I'll be going there a few times this year for work.

edited to add: I'll have to take back doing that AZ state meet, I'll be in the Cleveland area that weekend for a family thing. After reviewing the AZ meets calendar, I'll probably do the Sun Devil Invitational, depending when it is.

Not as fast as I first thought. I just converted my Metres times and would qualify quite comfortably in 'my' events.
Anyway, it doesn't really matter. A bit of a trek to California for me.
I just found out recently that one of the outdoor facilities (1x 50M pool AND 1x 25Y pool) will be done with their $8 million renovation in time for LCM season. After work, I have a meeting with the team's Director to talk about events at that facility and starting a masters team there. It should be a top-notch facility for meets, especially in the Spring and Fall.
Yeah, swimming in AZ is nice. I came down here after college and got used to swimming outside year 'round really quickly. It is nice indeed, come on out and swim with us sometime!
Whenever I am in town, I will do it. Of course, with my finances right now, it might be in 2020!!!!!
C'mon Allen - "hate" :badday: is such a strong word. You don't hate SCY, you just prefer LCM. Right? :bighug:
Right, the only thing I hate is your turns are faster than mine and there is so little time to make up for it in SCY.

Not to worry....I have plans for you that will be far more painful than a swim meet.

What?! No way, I have my Zones Champs a week after I get home. :bump: How bout one of those fancy hamburgers instead? Or is that what you were actually referring to? hehe
(Plus, if you ever read my blog, you'd see that I regularly steal your sets. :D)
You guys in Arizona swim at some nice facilities. Two training pools and everything and at multiple locations.
