USMS and Blue Seventy!!!

While some swimming organizations are running away from tech suits, we masters are embracing them with open arms: www.usms.org/.../newsitem.php This is great news for USMS! Great job Rob Butcher and Roque Santos! Gotta love it when two breaststrokers work together...
  • So, we can close the debates, then? I'm tired of them, frankly.
  • I followed all the links to the PDF pages telling how to put it on. It says you should use a plastic bag to aid in getting your legs into it. What a hassle: Getting into -and swimming in- what amounts to a elastomeric body condom. Bags work but some triathletes tell me that TriGlide (sp?) also works well. Yes, getting the darn thing on and off is a hassle but if it helps me go faster in the 400 IM and 200 *** I will use it. However, I only wear these suits at big meets. Some folks wear them all the time but I reserve mine only for special events. These suits help, but so does better diet, intense dryland training, massage, anti-inflammatory medication, improved technique, and mental discipline. Glad to see we will get a discount on the suit aspect of the arms race
  • What a hassle: Getting into -and swimming in- what amounts to a elastomeric body condom. You told us all a while back that despite not being a swimmer you had tried on a friend's tech suit. From the post above it appears that was not the truth. So, have you weared one or not, yes or no?? Please reference post #43 in this thread where you said you had weared one: forums.usms.org/showthread.php FYI - everyone knows these things are a pain to put on, everyone that is a swimmer, that is. Rob - well done on this!
  • If they are going to sponsor USMS, are they going to expand their sizing to include, uh, "Masters" size suits ? Do they stretch as much as a plain old Speedo lycra suit ? If you look at the other thread about the sizing of these suits, it seems like most people size down quite a bit from what they would wear in a lycra suit. Well, men anyway. Can't say I've been following the discussion about women's sizing! :)

Very nice! Thanks for posting that!
  • Yes it's official Blue Seventy is now listed as a USMS sponsor www.usms.org/.../sponsors.php kudos to USMS and B70, this sponsorship is one of the best member benefits USMS has ever rolled out. USMS and B70 are working out the details of what the benefits will be word is USMS members will receive a to be determined discount when they get a B70 suit from B70 at USMS events. Swimmers are swimming very fast times in Blue Seventy Nero Comp Suits. Blue Seventys + are easier to put on than LZRs + are more affordable and + seem to last longer than other latest generation tech suits. Warning: blue seventy's website is very clunky this link will take you to the nero comp page of the US store: Long Leg Nero Comp Nero Comp Knee It says we can get a discount, how big?

  • that's a reasonable request it would be good if they went a size or 2 larger for men and women If they are going to sponsor USMS, are they going to expand their sizing to include, uh, "Masters" size suits ? Do they stretch as much as a plain old Speedo lycra suit ?
